Re: Isle Of Man TT.......ITV4

Yeah, old Brit bikes were everywhere and worth nothing. Today they are nowhere to be found and worth a mint. If only I'd known then......

Ah well.

Thanks Barry. I'd spent some time on diabetes.co.uk site but not looked at the forum. A lot of type 1 cyclists posting, but the same rules really apply. Some inspirational stories

Re: Isle Of Man TT.......ITV4

I'm pretty sure it was 'Get yer ya ya's out!'.

Also to complete the story, I have had a number of Indian Enfield's in more recent years, including a trials one, similar to yours visually, but engine-wise no comparison.

Re: Isle Of Man TT.......ITV4

Wow! That's beautiful. Some compare the originals with the Indian ones. There is no comparison. These were lovingly made by British craftsmen in Redditch. All sorts of hand-finished quality differences.

Lovely.

Edit. Should add, I had a road going 350 bullet back in the 60s. Bought for a fiver, swapped for a Rolling Stones album! They (British bikes) had such a high perceived value back then. If only we had known[emoji19]

Re: 2 stroke brushcutter engine issues

My initial thoughts were carb, and perished diaphragm specifically at that age, so that YouTube will be a good start.

If you are destined for a new one in the end, have you considered battery? I'm getting close to new mower, hedge cutter and brush cutter/strimmer. All heavy duty demands, not residential garden. Have had my head turned by the ads, but not yet done any research, but I reckon it's the way to go now. Some of the ones I've seen have a shared battery, so you can have two, one on charge, one in use, shared between all tools. Seems a good solution.

River Avon and Kennet & Avon canal perhaps.

Not done all of it myself but I know much of it is good. Certainly pleasant.

Re: Problem with aluminium.

Well, I'll start off saying that I'm not an expert on anything. However my current bike is a Trek 7100 aluminium alloy frame and is 9 years old and done a lot of miles. It is 9 years old and I'd expect the same again. My previous bike was an aluminium framed GT and was getting on for 15 when I got rid of it, and was as good as the day I bought it as far as I could see.

So, whilst I lust after something steel, I can't say that aluminium had ever let me down.

A bit on next generation batteries on Inside Science, R4 last night.

Standout piece was 23,000 cycles and a performance improvement NOT deterioration!

Re: Internal hub geared bikes

The noise from a chain and derailleur can be more or less depending on the lube used. I remember using a dry wax once and had gotten used to the noise. Had to use some regular motor oil in an emergency and it was transformed! Picked up loads of dirt though which reminded me why I'd used the wax.

How I lust after a belt drive. One day....

Yes definitely, deer droppings are more like rabbit or sheep. Otter scats can have that black twisted appearance but sometimes smell fishiy. I have heard the smell of otter scats being described as 'jasmine tea' - which puts me off the idea of jasmine tea...
Hmm, I disagree. I haven't seen a smoking gun as it were, but I know the deer spend the nights in one of our paddocks and the droppings are like very large sausages.

Re: Who's is This?

We dont have much formal garden, just loads of grass. The deer visit close to the house depending on what is 'in season'. They often strip our pear tree, but generally leave the apples, cookers and eaters. Next door lose their roses when they're 'sweet'. So I guess even though there are lots around you, it's either too noisy around your house [emoji6] or just nothing on the menu they fancy.
