Does Cycle Travel work on Elemnt Roam?

I've tried to plot routes on Cycle Travel and download them onto my Wahoo Elemnt Roam but with no success. Does anyone know if this can be done? I've looked online and at Cycle Travel FAQs and it seems it is possible to download a TCX file, which I can do, but there seems no way to get that file off my Mac desktop and onto the actual device (I do have cycle travel app, Elemnt app and Wahoo app on my phone). At the moment I'm having to plot everything on Komoot which is a shame because I prefer the Cycle Travel mapping and am thinking of subscribing as a supporter. Any hints or thoughts appreciated.

Re: Cycling Roscoff to Bordeaux (Gironde) - Camping

Hi all, thanks for those responses - all points have been duly passed on! And in fact I had a look at the route on cycle travel, with all those lovely street view opportunities - the roads/countryside look great. I'm sure they'll enjoy it.

Cycling Roscoff to Bordeaux (Gironde) - Camping

Has anyone cycled from Roscoff to Bordeaux in the Gironde? My son and friend are doing their first tour on that route and camping on the way - any advice about good sites to stop at, stretches where there are no campsites, and general attractiveness/suitability for first time tourers would be helpful. They're going in July - both young, fit and keen to cycle more. They are planning between 60-80k a day. Many thanks.

Re: Recommendations for a waterproof touring jacket?

I went across America in a Showers Pass refuge jacket which was great but I'm now using a Patagonia granite crest which I think is better - it's brilliant on and off the bike and probably not as heavy. Not cheap but on offer at Patagonia in Bristol now. The hood is cut to fit over a helmet, the arms are long enough for cycling, as is the back, there are vents under the armpits etc etc. I like it.

Re: Crash and helmet

On the cracked skull thing, my mother in law (78) slipped and fell on the marble floor of her Tenerife apartment, falling backwards onto a step. She hit it with such force with the back of her head that a big chunk of the marble flooring broke off and although she was out cold for a few minutes and spent a couple of days in hospital for tests there was no fracture of the skull. Of course, it could be she's just got a very thick head, but even so...

I just mentioned Weymouth so people didn't think it was Portland, Oregon!

...Sven Cycles in Portland?

Anyone have any experience of bikes from Sven Cycles in Portland (Weymouth)? Some friends have just ordered a couple of bikes and my wife is thinking of getting one. Be interested to know what people think...

Re: Rear light for night riding

Is that true about not using flashing rear lights? I have a Moon unit rear light which is pretty bright but often have it in flashing mode - even on busy roads during the day time - and with it I find cars almost always pass at a respectful distance. Also at night when you are driving on fast, straight rural roads - ie 60 mph limits - you sometimes come up on cyclists pretty quickly and flashing lamps do draw the eye from a good distance. Or at least they do with me. My perception is that a small steady red light in the distance is less easily noticed. That said - I don't want to blind anyone!

Re: D locks on tour - advice please

Thanks all, that's really helpful - think I'll ditch the Kryptonite Evolution for the tour and find a decent cable lock instead, something that might at least go around a post or a tree. irc thanks for the trans am advice - and the links. Richard - bit off topic but I think you run cycle-travel don't you? I used it for the first time on a two day ride from Bristol to New Forest and it was great - the only time I got in trouble was when I went off route into Bath for lunch and followed some locals' directions out. Ended up carrying the bike up and down bridges over the canal. Apart from that it was all quiet lanes and very nice. Thank you.

D locks on tour - advice please

Hello all, I'm planning a Trans America tour next year and I've been doing a few practice runs fully loaded. I usually carry a Kryptonite Evolution mini D lock with me but I've found with the panniers on it's difficult to lock the bike to fences etc because the panniers get in the way. I end up putting a long cable around whatever point I've found and then putting the D lock through the bike wheel and frame, which sort of defeats the purpose really. I'm wondering if a cable lock would be better, what do people think? I don't leave the bike out of sight for long periods of time.

Re: New to cycling - Front knee pain just in one knee!?

I had exactly the same problem in the same knee. Realised my saddle was about an inch too low. Also when I saw a physio he said hip muscles needed strengthening to keep the kneecap moving smoothly and straight. The knee heavily influenced by muscles from your hip to your calf. Also cycling naturally builds up some muscles like the quads and you can get an imbalance. If you're worried pay £50 to see a physio or a bike fitter - don't wreck your knees! The good news is you can get it sorted.

Re: Touring on a Moulton

Sorry to go off on a tangent - but are these the hypers that everyone keeps raving about?

http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TYVIRNDHYP ... lding-tyre

or was it these..

http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TYVIVOHY/v ... lding-tyre

If so I might get some. By the way, I used to ride a Moulton AM7 which I loved but I always found cycling up steep hills a bit on the bouncy side. Never carried weight on it so not sure if that would have helped or not.

Short tour from Ludlow... ideas?

Hi all, I'm going to be spending three or four days in the Ludlow area (Ashford Carbonel actually) and wanted to do a circular tour taking in Ross on Wye if possible. Any suggestions as to routes? I'm just recovering from a minor knee injury so trying to avoid too much climbing. Recommendations for good cycle/campsites also welcome. Many thanks -
