Re: Touring E-Bike required, London
Personally I also think it would be hard to sell the bike on, unless you are practically giving it away.

Re: handlebar advice
Just to update this thread and the mollyhawk bars.
Ar least I can ride, albeit with some pain but as bad as it was. It does promote a very casual way of riding. The only disappointment/ disadvantage is taking off from standstill. I can't accelerate and its quite difficult to ride out the saddle. Still a win though

Re: handlebar advice
Just an update now that I have done a few miles on them commuting in traffic.
They do feel ungainly, and the bike now looks and feels tiny but at least I can ride. I have to be careful as pedalling out of the saddle is trickier and definitely does no wonders for my back. On the other hand it does promote a rather laid back style of cycling, which works till I have to get a move on and then remind myself that getting a move on, may well bugger my back.
My bike has a rather sharp steering (its that way from the factory as some sort of quick city bike) so this sort of magnifies that.
So still a win. My cables are about 4 inches too short but I can still brake ok with where they are.

Re: Raising the (handle) bar(s) EWG ergotech initial review
I fitted something similar to my bike. Looks odd but so comfortable and its feels like riding those bikes in the 1900s. I probably need a change of saddle but function over form any day for me.
Glad they are working out for you in comfort if not aesthetics.

Re: handlebar advice
Well I got the molly one bars. Seem to be a sort of a halfway house to some similar Nitto bars. Obviously not as pretty but hey ho they are cheap.
Fitting was a bit of a pain, cables not long enough (not an easy change as hydraulic brakes) and the oversize part of the bar is very short, meaning that the cycle computer needed some fiddling around (e bike). However bars are much more higher and back.
So I can now sit up and ride my bike - still get back ache but its livable. What a joy to just be able to cruise around in the evening sun. The position - sitting upright and back suits the character of the bike much more than the flat bars it came with. Sitting back also seems to have made the bike more stable - I can ride hands off more easily. Maybe because the front is unloaded more and just does it own thing.
I just enjoyed cruising around letting the motor doing the hard work and just bimbled. Really understand the reason for these style of bikes!
Looks a like the thread on raising the handlebars viewtopic.php?t=152476.
A thumbs up from me

Re: handlebar advice
Thanks folks. I am now seeing a physio and have nearly 20 exercises to do.
I think its going to be a slow process, no idea what I have done. Just sitting on the stairs to tie my shoelaces hurts a little!

Re: handlebar advice
Thanks all.
I am surprised its taking this long as well.
I can just about manage short rides on a borrowed Brompton, but any pressure through the pedals and I can feel my lower back straining.
GP said go to A&E and self refer. Done the latter, earliest phone appt Aug lol.
I have been doing some youtube stretches which help.
I think the mollymawks sound good, especially as this is an e bike, with very sharp geometry, which is a right pain.
If I had known better, I really should have got a step through frame!

Re: handlebar advice

handlebar advice
Hi, I need some help please.
I have a Raleigh hybrid on which the bars are relatively low and flat (well its a hybrid). Due to back issues, which moves my forward mobility is restricted, I cannot comfortably reach the bars.
I am thinking of changing to something like the planet x mollymawk bars - https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/HBOOMM/on ... -handlebar
Would this be a good option?
I know I can get riser stems etc, but I still cant get over how ugly they are and I have already put a 15 degree stem on mine.
thanks

Although at one time quite a bit of unpleasantness from some on these pages.
But otherwise only positive.
How do you charge the battery when touring/ camping?
I now know what range anxiety means!

Re: Silly question Ergon GP1 grips and bar ends
There is a lip at the end, which seems to form an integral bit of the grip. Can I file them down?

Silly question Ergon GP1 grips and bar ends
I have some carbon bar ends I want to use with my GP1 grips
However I can't seem to slide the GP1s into the bar.
Is there a trick I am missing?
Thanks
