Riders in Middlesbrough
My wife and I are moving up to Middlesbrough from near Harrogate as she has a new job. I love where we live and there are some great cycle routes but I don't know much about the Middlesbrough area. We really like this house http://www.bridgfords.co.uk/forsaleoffice/Middlesbrough/336 the one on Pinewood Road but I want to know what cycle routes are in the area. Is anyone from around there? Could give me any tips? Would be great to meet some locals who enjoy cycling as well.

How far away would the average pedestrian have to be to read the sign? So drivers are just complete idiots!

For the eagle eyed amongst you the Kona and Bronze Vaya are on Schwalbe Marathon Slicks which are winter tyres(I've fitted Hypers to the Vaya since taking the photos)and the brake levers are slightly further round the bend of the drops,on those two bikes.
Indulgence isn't too bad of a sin IMO
Three very nice bikes. Good taste R2

No matter the sport, the environment, the kit, the bike some people are rude. They aren't likely to change so I don't worry about it!

Re: Bike business help
Thanks everyone.
That thread was really useful, gaz, thanks.
We're not planning on giving up our jobs at the minute, and yes, we need to do loads more research. I've been looking at a few local companies around Leeds, it seems to be quite a popular thing at the moment.
I'll have another look at wordpress, my only experience with them was when I tried, and failed, to start up a blog a while ago, I didn't get on very well with it and have only known people use it for blogging. I don't have any experience with website design so needed something fool proof.
I'll look into the limited company thing too.
Cheers everyone

Bike business help
Me and a friend have decided to start our own bike business, repairing and selling vintage bikes! Well he's really a lot more clued on about the bike repair side and I'm going to be more involved with the business side of it. I've been doing a lot of research about starting your own business as we're both new to this. The first step seems to be getting your own website so I thought this forum would be a good place to ask for some advice on this. Has anyone had a go at starting their own business or know a thing or two about it? From what I've gathered you can create a website from scratch but I really don't think that's for me. Otherwise I found that there are companies like http://website.1and1.co.uk/create-personal-website who will do all the hard work for you. Has anyone on here created their own website or has any advice for somebody who is doing it? I'd love to hear from you please! Many thanks.

Re: Favourite tea shops
It was some time ago but I cycled through Bakewell and stopped off at the Lavender Tea Rooms, they were of an excellent quality! I had tea and bakewell pudding (of course!), so so tasty! So, if anyone ends up over that way, make sure you stop by for some afternoon tea!

I definitely agree about not saying anything, I've been in a couple of these situations but it's definitely not worth it. I've now learnt to let it go, an idiot will always be an idiot.

I've been using Fuji X10 for some time now and I've been quite happy with it. However, I think it might be time to get say adios to my old pal and get a new one. Haven't decided which one to go for yet, so much choice out there, it's impossible to make a decision for me!

Not planning to do the length of the country like Nickrav, but was thinking about heading over later in the year, and getting some cycling in, so I'd be very interested in hearing from people about this topic.
Also, recommend keeping an eye on this thread as it has lots of useful info http://forum.ctc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=75828
I'll be heading over to Lombardy with the family. It would be nice to get some cycling done around the lakes. Has anyone stayed there? Thinking of grabbing a villa like these http://www.cottagestocastles.com/italian-lakes-villas.aspx
Best of luck Nick, can't wait to read your journal!

Re: Kamikaze pigeons
When my father was young, they had a pet canary in a cage in the living by a window. One afternoon they came home to find a hawk had broke through the window and was dead on the floor. It must have went for the canary, who promptly died of fright as well.
