Re: anybody cycled Las Vegas?

I stayed with a friend in LV last year. He uses a bike. There are quite few cycle routes within the built-up areas eg LV and Hnederson. There seemed to be reasonable scope.

I know have a Nevada sticker on my car stating it is LAW to give 3ft space when overtaking.

Some of the surrounding desert and mountains are fantastic

Back on toe overlap again

I consider it lethal and had to return a Cube bike which was totally scary, as doing a U-turn on a country lane.

Unless it is needed for specialist reasons it should not be on standard bikes

Re: Vehicle drivers acknowledging our courtesy

it is essential to acknowledge and if possible wave a considerate motorist, even if it is your right of way.

Even a smile if you need both hands on the bars.

It adds up to better relationships

Re: Is life possible without GPS?

I have never used GPS . Always used maps or aerial photos, the latter in deserts and 64 degrees north.

Much prefer an OS map , but was with students last year in a thick pine forest in the USA where GPS allowed greater precision in identifying location

Re: Gender specific cycle clothing colours

Black is the worst colour as it can render a cyclist invisible. That doesn't help for accidents

Perhaps it is time for brighter colours and to look better

Giving up cycling for winter

Why do people keep asking me if I am giving up cycling for the winter? It started in October.

I will ride if it is not too icy
