Re: BikeMate track pump
Thanks for messages. The problem is that as soon as a little air goes in the head pops off. it does appear to be locked on to start with.

BikeMate track pump
Has anyone used a Aldi BikeMate track pump No. 63799. I have had it sometime and it has never really worked. It wont seem to pump up tyres with old type high pressure valves. The pump jumps off before tyre gets hard enough to ride. Am I doing something wrong?
Also what are the two little blue/grey bits in the handle for?

Helmets in Majorca
Is it a law in Majorca to wear a cycle helmet? Or - is it like mainland Spain where you needn't wear one if hot, going up a steep hill, in a city etc. A complicated law I feel. What my wife calls a steep hill, is a slope to me, who decides what is hot etc. etc. Anyone had a problem when not wearing one?

Majorca
I am sure this has come up before, but I would like some suggestions or recommendations on where to stay that is not one of these large impersonal hotels. I think maybe Alcudia/Can Picafort or close by would be ideal. We have cycled in Majorca before taking our own bikes and moving on, but my wife is now not able to do this but would happily cycle on flattish roads while I (some of the time) will go towards the hills. We thought we would hire bikes as I understand it is easy to do in Majorca instead of the hassle of taking our own.

Alternative to Bike Express
We have travelled with Bike Express on many occasions and have nothing to complain about apart from the long journey to the nearest pick up.
We are in South Shropshire and now don't drive any distance. Apart from taking the bikes on a train is there any other alternative company that offers a similar service to Bike Express but is in the western side of the country. We enjoy cycling the southern part of France, but how to get there?? Flying is not really an option. Had too many problems in the past.

Re: POLL OF THE WHOLE CLUB PLEASE TAKE PART YOUR VOTE IS IMPORTANT
Just about to return the papers by post, but thought I would give it one more go, well two more really as there are two of us in this house,
and it worked.
Waiting with interest now to know the results.

Re: POLL OF THE WHOLE CLUB PLEASE TAKE PART YOUR VOTE IS IMPORTANT
I have tried the online voting and have got nowhere. I put in the www.ersvotes.com/cyclingukpoll as instructed and it just doesn't work for me.
Maybe it's not up and running yet. Has anyone else had an issue with it?

Re: Travel Insurance
It seems that being over 80 is our problem with these Insurers. Saga did quote over £400 for two of us for 2 weeks and we hadn't even got round to discussing the bikes.
I think we will have to stay in this country. Only want some sunshine!

Travel Insurance
Thought I would try and get a quote for travel insurance from the company advertised by Cycling UK latest magazine.
No chance, we are over 80. Don't any other cyclists in their 80's try and cycle abroad these days.

Re: Cateye Mity 8
Do you know if the actual Enduro computer fits into the Mity 8 "holder". What I mean is can I transfer the actual computer from one bike to another that is wired for the Mity 8.

Cateye Mity 8
Does anyone know where I can get a Cateye Mity 8 computer. I understand they are not a current model, but I would like one as I have one on another bike
I'm sure a bike shop somewhere has still got one lurking behind the counter.

Re: Hiring bikes abroad - poss. Majorca
Hopefully going about end of April. We have been to Majorca before, once cycled clockwise round the island and the next time anti-clockwise, moving on each night. Also stayed near Arenal and then again in the north of the island, the name escapes me at the moment. This time hoping to stay in one place and hire bikes. It is the Alcudia area we are thinking of.

Hiring bikes abroad - poss. Majorca
Has anyone managed to hire decent road bikes for a few days cycling possibly Majorca. We fancy a week or so cycling in the sun but find it quite a hassle to take the bikes on planes recently. I don't know if there are any hotels that do hire bikes as a package, or we need to find decent shops with good road bikes. We are quite open minded where we go at the moment. Any helpful suggestions would be welcome.
