Needed to borrow - OS maps

Post by AaronR »

Hi,

Having looked at various GPS options for the Dorset Gravel Dash at the end of the month I've decided to stick to good old fashioned paper!

Because I'm renowned for being squeaky tight though I wonder if anyone has OS Explorer 1:25,000 numbers 117 and OL15 I could borrow?

Thanks!

To expand on previous post.

I regularly get my OS maps from the library. If my local one doesn't have it on their shelves, they can order from any library in the county. All this is free.

Most maps are the 1:50,000 Landranger, but there are a few 25,000 ones, you may be lucky.

A lot of library maps are plastic coated so bulky, but good in the outdoors. A personal copy is unlikely to be plasticated and will be subject to mud and dirt. You'd struggle to keep a borrowed map pristine.

I'd advise something like Amazon to buy your own, probably cheaper than any of your bike's components.

£35 for an event with no signage or food, you sound extremely generous to me.

A £24 annual subscription to Ordnance Survey allows the holder to print out as many 1:25K and 1:50k A4 extracts as they like, and the printouts are little loss if damaged by water, etc. This also reduces weight, as A4 sheets covering the route will usually weigh less than the whole maps.

No wonder he can't afford to buy a couple of maps.
