Following admittance to A and E I have been diagnosed with Bronchiectasis a chest condition. Any advice on coping with this condition for cycling. I’m 79 yo

You might find this of interest.A cycling coach suffers from the same but still does 100 mile rides.You would need to tell your GP and get his/her clearance of course for any distance.

I'm not aware of anything special for cycling: are you concerned about anything in particular?

Usual advice on exercise: keep going.

Are you home yet? Write down any questions that occur to you so that you can ask the doctor, and I hope that that can be done remotely.

PS: It's a tricky condition for getting advice as it is so variable. That means that you might read other people's stories which are much worse than anything you'll ever experience.

Listen to the medics, but base your response on your own, "gut"feeling. If you feel a 20 mile ride is ok, I'd do it. If you feel it'll have to be nothing more than a token, 2 mile circular ride, I'd do it

@ 51yr's,always been exceptionally fit & healthy, now on my +50 Emergency Ambulance ride in past 6 yr's. Dr's are great, but only you know whether it's got to be day off, or off on a 50 mile ride .
