IS to flatmount spa wayfarer

Post by brucelee »

Hi, looking to put a flat mount brake on the rear of my wayfarer (I've got a load of these spare and bits to go with them) but would like to fit a 180mm disk. I'm aware of https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/395249529552 but this only goes up to 160mm - and looking at the diagrams on the page looks like it might not fit anyway. Anyone aware of other options ?
Cheers,
Bruce.

edited. Apologies misread the link. You might be struggling for a 180mm at the rear.
Does this help?

When I went to R7000 11sp on my Planet X frame I had the same issue of fitting flat mount callipers to a postmount frame and similar adapters were pointed out to me but this was 4 yeasrs ago and the cost of the adapters and postage from the US made it just as cheap to buy MTB callipers to fit my frame which worked fine with dropbar hydraulic levers.

https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/brakes/cinq ... m-caliper/

its PM to FM so you would also need IS to PM.

I don't think any of them are guarenteed to work as it depends on the space between the bolt holes. the adaptor needs to drop in this space.

It also pricey, new caliper probably just as affordable.

Longer bolts and 20mm spacers?

OK this is what I got so far - had to file a bit off the IS>flat mount adaptor. This would be right for a 160mm disk so I added a 140>160 adaptor and ended up with this :

I can't actually check as I have no six bolt rotors, anyone see any reason this wont work with a 180mm rotor ?
180mm is the ideal but I could get by with 160mm....
Cheers,
Bruce.
