Re: Ten Miles a Day
Took a detour last night and rode round the club's 10 course to check the road surface. Still a couple of potholes.
That was a 26 mile return so average is higher than predicted.

Re: Ten Miles a Day
I did 52 on Saturday, but didn't turn a pedal until yesterday (Wed) and did the 45miles.
Not riding today or tomorrow, and I may not ride again until Monday.
I've got to do the miles coz I'm not going out so often.

First rain in 17days.
Thank goodness it's rained! We were facing a hosepipe ban.

Re: Ten Miles a Day
I lost my impetus to cycle around a year or so ago. The only person I went cycling with regularly left my region and after a couple of nasty traffic incidents and mechanical failures I put the bikes away and left them there until a couple of months ago.
I write for my work and work from home so I can get a little crazy every now and then and forget to leave the building for a couple of weeks. At the start of this year I suffered some serious writers block which resulted in sleeping problems. After a couple of weeks of this I decided to start cycling out to a viewpoint to see the sunrise every morning. I leave just after sunrise and spend a couple of minutes sitting watching the sun rise before returning. It is a very short circuit, only about 7 miles.
My motivation to do it is probably fear. Unless I get up and ride every morning my head becomes cluttered and I'm unable to think calmly enough to write, which will then knock the rest of my day out. It also gives me an opportunity to meet and talk to commuters on the way.

Re: Ten Miles a Day
I'm averaging very close to 10 miles per day for 2014 so far. That's pretty unheard of for me at this time of year but we've had so few sub zero or frosty mornings (and no snow) this winter that I've gotten out quite a bit! Sure its been pretty soggy but I can handle the rain and just get on with it. Makes the post ride coffee all the more warming.

Missed a day. Average down to 20.700
Re: Ten Miles a Day
12miles before breakfast today.
We were out in Tavistock yesterday evening for a meal out (+ wines). We left the car in town and took a taxi back home, so I went off for a spin at 8am this morning, and collected the car. Bike fits in the back ok and I was home in a jiffy.

I work from home too. Sometimes rather than struggle with a problem that is getting to be intractable I go out for a ride. I almost always work so much better when I get back that I lose no time.
OTOH, if I stick at the task beyond a certain point, I can end up spoiling the painting altogether, or just messing about wasting time getting nowhere and losing confidence in what I'm doing.
I never regret going out, but often regret not doing.
It's too easy when you work at home to lose perspective on your work. And to get fat as you just move from one room to another to get to work and the fridge is soooooo close by.
I'm off out this morning once the frost has gone for a breather.
