Layout Issue Using macOS Safari 16.4

Post by Psamathe »

Recently updated to latest release Mac Safari and making a new post has a layout issue - big gap between the post body entry edit box and the formatting button row above

It's exactly the same every time and is not affected by window size. Happens in both light and dark themes.

I don't get that with Safari 16.3 on this MacBook Air. Can you remember what version you were on before?

Have you tried deleting caches and cookies?

Can't remember the immediately previous version but it started immediately after latest update (to 16.4).

Have tried the delete temporary stuff and no differences (still happens).

Looks like this is a known issue with the latest WebKit rendering: https://tracker.phpbb.com/browse/PHPBB3-17125

tbh it's not a huge issue for me... I'm already quite used to the gap between the toolbar and the text box !

I'm on Safari 16.3.

MacOS Ventura 13.2.1 on a 2022 M2 MacBookAir.
Just looked on the Updates section on App Store app and there are no updates showing ............... as of now.

Updates are through "System Settings->General->Software Update" not through App Store.

Has phpBB issued a fix? (and if it is, is it a small enough update to be applied manually prior to a CUK forum phpBB update - which is a lot of work and thus not frequent).

Happy to test if this is possible.

FYI: Looks like latest update to Mac Safari (Safari 17.2 released with macOS 14.2) has resolved this layout issue.
