Windcheetah Idlers

Post by mark aldridge »

I have tracked my drive chain rumble to the two chain idlers. The small one is much worse than the big one. It looks like you can replace just the bearings as they are held in by a circlip. Am I right?
The rest of the idlers are not in great shape so I might just replace them both.
Has anyone any experience of replacing them, if so where did you buy them.
They have been on for 15+ years and many miles so they have not done badly.

I replaced my smaller idler with a toothed sprocket.
From memory - they are just bearings on bolts, so get the right ID for the bearing and a small enough OD to not foul on the casting and you should be fine.

Replacing the block idlers on the return does t work nearly as well as I’d hoped, and they’re back to being blocks.
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.
