Re: Was anyone here in Vis, Croatia this August?

We spent four leisurely weeks in Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, mostly coastal, a little island hopping from Split, back on mainland and inland excursion to Mostar then back down on coast and inland to Dubrovnik and onto the Bay of Kotor. Interesting riding. Much better off season I expect! Stuart

Re: Big Balkan Bike Ride 1000km for Chairity

Hey Sri, We spent four weeks cycle touring in Bosnia, Croatia and Montenegro this summer, including a visit to Mostar. The bridge dive (check it out: http://statigr.am/p/515152255489374573_16288037 ) (that's not me!) looked like a job for the pros and there is a diving club there that seems to be in...

Re: Balkan Touring Routes - seeking ideas, resources, advice

Just a quick update, for anyone interested. Route taking shape now. Will be doing a little island hopping from Split to Dubrovnik in Croatia with a ride up into Bosnia to visit Medjugoria and Mostar. Then down into Montenegro to Bay of Kotor and a little excursion up the ladder of Cattaro (anyone ri...

Re: Courier service for shipping bikes

Went with Paisley Freight in the end. A bit of a hiccup with pick up from a difficult to find address but once that was sorted all worked smoothly. And very cost effective at about £22. Thanks for all tips and ideas. Stuart

Re: Courier service for shipping bikes

we used paisley freight recently: https://www.paisleyfreight.com It was a very easy service to use. They transported our two bikes to a bike shop at the start of our tour and then back from the same shop. We gave the bike shop £20 to receive and store the bikes and then pass them on to Paisley for ...

Courier service for shipping bikes

Anyone recommend a courier service for shipping a bike across UK.
Google shows up http://www.directcouriersolutions.co.uk/product.php?id=207. Anyone used or vouch for them?
Thanks,Stuart

Touring bike recommendations for 10 year old

Looking for some ideas on touring bike for 10 year old. After years of tandem touring he wants to ride solo :-). Great. But what should I put him on? He's too small for any 26" touring model, even those I've spotted with 18" frame (Dawes Karakum), so need some ideas for something I could b...

Balkan Touring Routes - seeking ideas, resources, advice

Hi all, I'm starting to plan a family bike expedition to explore the Balkans - at early stages so looking for useful resources, ideas and advice as to viability and level of challenge to expect in terms of culture, facilities, terrain. Also whether there are any 'marked routes' or whether it's more ...

Re: Poland and Kaliningrad 2013

This looks an interesting route. How did you find the Polish traffic? We rode in Tatras and to Krakow in 2011 and found it the worst I've come across in Europe. The Curonioan Spit is exceptionally beautiful. We rode the Lithuanian side 2010 and was stunning but didn't have visa to cross into Kalingr...

I can see it was a charity challenge ride but did you explore off the ring road at all? Or not enough time?

Re: need to get away on a big adventure ride

Telling some people you know you're doing it. That's often a turning point in making it happen for me. Or take some other little steps that commit you to something. You know register your house for rental with an agent, a housesitting or rental site. Get yourself a visa for a country you'd like to s...
