The current and previous PMs had no clue. May had a couple of meaningless slogans, “The Brexit people voted for” and “No deal is better than a bad deal”. Johnson’s was, “Make Brexit happen”. Both meaningless utterances of complete idiocy, self inflicted wounds and nation destroying lunacy.
Absolutely John.

The Tory party is for itself at the expense of the country(which is the people)we see it time and again, they wish to control and manipulate for their own gain.
I've no doubt some Tories are quite decent people to a point but they are either, blind choosing not to see what goes on before their eyes or are complicit in the evil that is the Tory machine.
It was because of such evil the Labour movement was formed,we should never forget that.
YVMV mine won't
Yes John - quite so.
The press (which I think of as the Tory press) doesn't help humanity though, does it?
The Murdoch/Thatcher combine was the cause of, and reason for so many of the problems we're suffering today.
Tell you what - I'd rather have had Theresa May than Boris!

You may remember that he called the Tories "lower than vermin."
He was right!
Well actually - don't we all know some Tories? - are they all "lower than vermin"?
I honestly cannot say they are - there are those that I know are not - they're decent people.
However, the English ruling class (extreme Tories?), by their actions, do seem to be.
I've known Tory activists/politicians who certainly are.
We know them by their actions.
In many case it can take almost a generation before the full appalling consequences become evident.
I cite Thatcher - or the manipulating grandees that put it there and are benefiting even now.
You've referred to Bevan's "Why Not Trust The Tories?" ............experience of their rule since the war asks : "Why should we?"

The Queen is about as opposite to the ruling class as ice is to frozen water.
I was referring to the Queen as a human being, and not as a member of the ruling class.
I'm not thinking about her 'status'or 'rank', but simply her humanity..........
I submit that humanity is a very rare quality in the ruling class......................for generations.
Their history and behaviour since William the Conqueror are a disgrace to humanity
We probably agree on that - but the Queen is still a woman, a mother, a grandmother, great-grandmother and has indicated human feelings.

Yes - you're right about that. It may also be wondered whether he's been badly advised.
I think that he was very badly advised to take part in that TV interview ...........all those months ago.
I got the impression that then whole thing was set up to make him look bad.
How unhappy it must be making the Queen.

Attlee's government created 'services' whose first priority was to serve the people - Railways, Gas, electricity, National Health Service et al - not to give first priority to making investors, entrepreneurs and the ruling class generally richer (and shareholders).
That was reversed, of course, by thatcher and it's governments.
Actually, this has the potential to deteriorate into an argument which could rage forever, and I won't be entering it.
I was clumsy to start this, but basically I was saying that I see the Queen (as a human being) and the ruling class as occupying opposite ends of the spectrum.

It's CF Industries.

Fair comment Jonathan - it's my (probably tasteless) 'joke' generated by the reference to a taxpayer subsidy to an American company.
Not a joke though, is it?

Have you seen the fix for carbon dioxide production?

"Production is to restart at one of the UK's most important carbon dioxide suppliers after ministers agreed to offer a multi-million pound taxpayer subsidy, staving off the threat of widespread food shortages and propping up critical nuclear supply chains."
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/20 ... roduction/
(Paywalled)

That's a "taxpayer subsidy" to a company based in the USA.

Jonathan

PS:
"Government secures agreement to ensure CO2 supplies":
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/gove ... 2-supplies
... of course it doesn't say how much they're being paid.

Oldjohnw wrote: 19 Sep 2021, 8:02amHowever much we detest Johnson and his corrupt crew, they were legitimate elected.
That's debatable :P
This may generate a bit of hatred - possibly for me!
What we've seen of the Queen - as distinct from the English Ruling Class - is that she's a human being.
I can't say that about the ruling class brigade - the rich hurray-Henry's - who have no idea about humanity - only their own wealth and power, and the preservation and growth of it.
Perversely I see Boris as being a bit more human that most of the ruling class - although like most of us, most of what I see/hear of him is via television.
For far too long it's the ruling class that have been elected - lawfully, but whether legitimately is possibly "debatable", considering the influence and the actions and behaviour of the press.
Is Rupert Murdoch dead yet?
A problem with the last previous election was, in my opinion, that it was a choice between bunions and a bad knee (although I've had neither).
When Theresa May was being pilloried by the English Ruling Class (or would you say 'leading Tories?).didn't Boris give his word that he wasn't 'interested' in being prime minister?
Now this will raise some comment, but as we are at the moment, I'd be much happier if Downing Street was occupied by the Queen and Theresa May...............and wait for another Clement Attlee to appear.
