Re: Tower Block Disaster

2 years on :- There are still over three hundred blocks in the UK needing the cladding stripping off and replacing There are 17 families still waiting to be found permanent housing after being promised to be rehouse within weeks of the disaster The inquiry is still no nearer completion and no one h...

Re: About bike shops for big people?

Probably too small a market. The Surly Long Haul Trucker has a max rider weight of 300 pounds or 136kg. The number of cyclists heavier than that must be tiny Too small for a viable market? I agree, the market isn't large enough to sustain such a business. That's something that may change in time wit...

Yes - in the top right corner of the map click on the (not very obvious) link named "Key".

Thanks, I'd never have found it.

Re: Cycle Travel question!

Are you saying that Osmand has this function? We use Osmand but how do you " turn" this on? It does have this feature but, sometimes the route you are following has a turn that isn't seen as a turn by Osmand. This means the screen remains off and you will have to backtrack when you find o...

Re: Transgender woman wins cycling championship

I suspect that most people, wherever they fit, just want to quietly get on with their life. They don't win races, go on TV or seek public office. So you never know about them. The Trans issue seems to be that the tiny amount of Trans people are demanding their rights, usually by trampling all over ...

Re: Transgender woman wins cycling championship

From an observational view I've yet to see a transgender person look remotely like a female. Maybe that's because when a trans gender woman looks like a woman, you accept their gender. Maybe, but first I'd like to see some evidence, certainly any tv programme where spokeswomen/men has been intervie...

Re: Transgender woman wins cycling championship

Why are Women not standing up to this !!!! Where is #MeToo .... on this Issue .... Maybe because we have more in common with women who used be men than men who are entrenched in their ways. Your view not mine. Speaking to two daughters, a wife and many close female friends who all feel that they ar...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Tories who fudged Brexit should be very worried. Buggered up, more like. It was the prospect of the Tories splitting and falling apart that started it. People like me, were just people who preferred to be out than in. They shouldn't have asked if they didn't like the answer. For the first time in t...

My method is, plan to go, look at the forecast, look out of the window and decide. I have been caught out but not often.

Re: aluminium alloy frame failure

Every time I see a post about alluminium frame failures it compels me to have another look at mine. It's now into old age and I been told to expect it to fail. No cracks yet but I don't 'bomb' down rough tracks as fast as I did!

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Referenda simply don't work in a parliamentary democracy. We don't do government by plebiscite. The last three years clearly demonstrate this. I heard that it's technically feasible to not have any government and may all decisions concerning the country by electronic referendum. I think this would ...

Re: WTB Rim

I had a problem with a set of Schwalbe tyres I fitted to a rim that had seen a number of tyres sitting properly on it. I tried inflating at a higher than normal pressure as advised but to no avail. I ended up smothering the tyres with talc. It still didn't seat properly the first time but deflating ...

Re: A new tea pot

I love a cup of tea, not weak but not too strong. I've tried making it in a cup but it's never the same as when made in a teapot. We had a stainless steel one for years that went walkabout. We then used a china one but wanted another S/S one. On a visit to the UK my wife got one from a jumble sale f...
