Looking for some replacement bearings for the Mule trailer. No idea what the required bearing type was called, never mind the model number. No markings on the existing set.
Bought a vernier gauge, measured up, bit of googling, placed order and crossed fingers.
Got it right .

Re: Custom Storage
I've secured some 2"x2" wooden blocks to the garage floor.
Has proved to be sufficient to prevent any low speed misjudgements for about the 20 years that we've had the garage.
On the other hand, it's annoying having to move the car out of the way before going for a ride.

Kingsferry Bridge, Sheppey, Kent - Summer closures
The Kingsferry bridge is the only cycle route available between mainland Kent and the Isle of Sheppey. Cycling is prohibited on the adjacent A249 high level bridge.
Work on the 1960s lifting bridge will see closures this summer:
Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June
Saturday 15 to Saturday 22 June (8 days)
Saturday 29 to Saturday 6 July (8 days)
Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July
https://www.networkrailmediacentre.co.u ... his-summer
Rail replacement bus services will be in place, with the usual attendant cycle restrictions. Whilst I anticipate a "shuttle bus" service for non-motorised road users, I have yet to see confirmation of this and would expect it to be infrequent and unreliable.

Re: New funding for Kent cycling routes
Seems that the money will go on rebuilding the Medway tow path route between Aylesford and Allington that has been closed for about four years.
In my view,
Pros: Certainly needs fixing, not likely to attract opposition.
Cons: It's a primarily leisure focused route with a host of unresolvable issues that will prevent if from ever being more than that.

Figures from DfT through links here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/101- ... nationwide
It will be interesting to see how KCC and Medway propose to use it.

Re-opened yesterday, some minor works continue.
National Highways comms over progress on the works which were due to finish mid-November have been non-existent.

There was a later post, which hinted at some "rules".gaz wrote: ↑17 Mar 2024, 4:42pmThe first rule of survey club is that you don't talk about survey club.thirdcrank wrote: ↑17 Mar 2024, 2:38pmI thought graham had formulated some rules, although I cannot find them now.
Graham wrote: ↑3 Jul 2014, 5:48pm Hi Alex,
Well you are polite enough to ask first, so I would permit your survey(s) here.
+ evidence shows that you really are a student.
+ no indication (yet) that you are gathering info for commercial purposes.
Forum users often respond to surveys with constructive criticism. Creating a decent survey is actually a tough challenge.
Post it/them in "Does Anyone Know" section.
