Kinlin TL 21 is the same internal width. Unless you want something narrower or wider and are proposing to change the rear rim/wheel at some future point to match it seems the appropriate choice. No personal experience of any of the available rims.

The solution to that problem is cutting off the crank arms leaving the spiders*.

*Probably best to find some cheap right hand cranks (wanted ad) with a suitable BCD and cut them down, saving the current set for use with crank shorteners in future.

What front rim are you using now?

How important is it to you that the new rim is a similar width/weight/appearance to your current front/rear rim?

I didn't have brake cables in the way, even so the fit was a bit fiddly (some of the etc was in the way). £300 seems like a lot of fiddly.

My money and memory would be on that being a 1989 Galaxy.

A check of the 1990 catalogue model shows the Galaxy with Weinmann cantilevers and Sachs-Huret Aris gears. The picture of the SR stem shows it way above the minimum insertion limit marker and "8901" looks suspiciously like a date code but may be coincidence.

I have neither knowledge of what the legal requirements are nor where to look for them.

My own local authority has the following note on their website, implying they consider 2 to 4 weeks notice sufficient for major works.

Notifying you

If your property or business is affected by our roadworks, you will receive a letter to explain:

how you can access your property during the works
if any road closures or diversions are needed
what the expected start and finish dates are
what the site working hours will be
what type of work we will carry out
what will change or improve.

We will put up signs on the street about 2 to 4 weeks before the work begins.

If the work is expected to only have a minor impact with no road closures, we will not notify residents or businesses in advance.

I've secured some 2"x2" wooden blocks to the garage floor.

Has proved to be sufficient to prevent any low speed misjudgements for about the 20 years that we've had the garage.

On the other hand, it's annoying having to move the car out of the way before going for a ride.

The Kingsferry bridge is the only cycle route available between mainland Kent and the Isle of Sheppey. Cycling is prohibited on the adjacent A249 high level bridge.

Work on the 1960s lifting bridge will see closures this summer:
Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June
Saturday 15 to Saturday 22 June (8 days)

Rail replacement bus services will be in place, with the usual attendant cycle restrictions. Whilst I anticipate a "shuttle bus" service for non-motorised road users, I have yet to see confirmation of this and would expect it to be infrequent and unreliable.

Seems that the money will go on rebuilding the Medway tow path route between Aylesford and Allington that has been closed for about four years.

In my view,

Pros: Certainly needs fixing, not likely to attract opposition.
Cons: It's a primarily leisure focused route with a host of unresolvable issues that will prevent if from ever being more than that.
