The road I know as The Struggle tops out just opposite the Kirkstone Pass Inn. It has a signpost on it - 'The Struggle'.

Thank you for this thread, I was just wallowing in the horror of turning 45 next month and it's just what I needed. So how old is too old to do The Big Tour I wonder? The one where you jack in your job and your home and take off round the world?

I really loved that article. I am involved in loads of community stuff in the small town where I live, and tend to go to meetings etc on my tourer/commuter. I was up in that area last week touring. We rode many of the Etape roads, they were well signposted with warnings about the closure. It's only ONE DAY, for pete's sake, and draws thousands of people to the area to spend their money (kerching). People we spoke to were very positive about the event. W...
