Re: It turns me off.
Sorry I really don't get this. You don't want the CTC to 'sell' cycling on it's green merits? This seems to be a common theme from a lot of people on this thread and tbh I've never heard so much nonsense. Do we want the CTC to sell cycling to the general public? (I'll assume a Yes here.) If they're...

Re: It turns me off.
I am not at all convinced that climate change is affected by motor cars or human behaviour You're not alone there voujan. Why be swayed by the overwhelming body of evidence based science when unfounded opinion and wishful thinking give a good excuse to ignore the implications, especially when the i...

Re: It turns me off.
I agree with Ru88el. Well said. For the record, I gave up motorised transport in favour of cycling 15 years ago. I thought if I needed a car I would just hire one but it hasn't happened yet. I am not at all convinced that climate change is affected by motor cars or human behaviour and I am dissapoin...

The french one is tyre to tyre. The difference there could easily be a couple of feet.
If this causes confusion then we certainly can't accept 3ft as a law. That could be interpreted as 1 ft.

Re: E-Petition: 3 Feet 2 Pass
The same old quandry. Whether to go for what is right or what is acheivable. Philosophically: Always go for what’s right. You only get depressed if you achieve what you didn't really want to achieve. Practically: I wouldn't assume that just because 3ft is less that it is more achievable. Yes, it ma...

Re: E-Petition: 3 Feet 2 Pass
If Tom Amos is so keen for a 5ft(1.5m) clearance why is he campaigning for 3ft(0.9m)? Didn't do the research before starting the campaign I suppose, and now he's lost the cycle path. His intentions were good but why dosen't he apply the brakes instead of peddling backwards. Having said that his cam...

US 3ft passing guru backs 1.5m rule for UK and challenges CTC to do likewise. Hey reohn2, your petition is getting some publicity! http://road.cc/content/news/10940-us-3ft-guru-backs-five-foot-passing-rule-uk?utm_medium=email&utm_source=Emailmarketingsoftware&utm_content=672277885&utm_ca...

Re: E-Petition: 3 Feet 2 Pass
This is the email I'm sending out. Feel free to copy and paste: The Highway Code says that motorists overtaking a cyclist "should" leave the same distance as they would when overtaking a car. This is generally reckoned to be about 5 feet or 1.5 meters. The Highway Code is not law but only ...

Re: E-Petition: 3 Feet 2 Pass
Well done reohn2 for setting up the 5ft petition. Now it needs to get some publicity. I have been discussing this on another cycle forum and have put a link to your petition. Also I have emailed a few people at work and since I sent it out 3 hours ago, three have signed. There will be a lot more in ...

Re: Etape Caledonia vandalised
Kieth, You say you know the accused and believe he is innocent. Why? I believe in innocent until proven guilty and I do not think anyone should be making personal attacks on anyone without conclusive proof, but the facts are that he has been charged with this crime and there must be strong evidence ...
