Merlin Cycles

Ordered a pair of Shimano MO64 shoes (for a really great price) online at 5:28 p/m on Sunday. Goods arrived first thing Tuesday morning. Dead pleased with the shoes but even more chuffed with the service. Look forward to using Merlin again.

Re: Wiggle

Very upset with Wiggle. Only ordered a couple of pairs of brake pads. The order was apparently processed on 30th June but still hasn't arrived. Managed to find a number for them (NOT on their website- clearly want to deter callers), to be told that I have to canvass neighbours and my local sorting o...

Re: London is different

Ericonaboke,

A very worthy crusade- count me in!

Gaz545,

Love the 'Silly Cyclists' vids. Just taken delivery of a little camera myself (Muvi Veho) to do something similar, although you've covered it already in pretty much the same area (Brixton, Stockwell).

Roll on tomorrow morning...

Re: London is different

Ericonabike, Absolutely spot on! As I said under steady eddy's post, 'stupid cyclists', we really don't do ourselves any favours sometimes. I for one love my journey into the City from SE London. It means I actually get to work in a good fettle and look forward to the journey home too. Feel free to ...

Re: Stupid Cyclists

I have to say, the biggest problem on my daily commute into The City is...cyclists! Then dozy pedestrians, then drivers, although clearly the latter have more chance of causing me serious harm. A great number of cyclists that I encounter are inconsiderate, sharply cutting in front of each other (and...

Re: Surly Long Haul Trucker

Hello Makepiece, You can't go wrong! I got the standard build LHT a few months back, with the bar end shifters, figuring I'd give them a whirl, and replace if I didn't get on with them. I use the bike daily for my commute into The City - 16 miles a day and done about 800 miles in total now. The shif...

Re: Grippy Touring/Commuting Shoes- Any Ideas?

Thanks all.
I ended up buying a pair of Exustar Stelvio shoes because...er, I just like 'em! Dead comfortable, great fit, somewhat trad look and the grips not bad. They do make my pins look spindlier and paler though.

Re: Helmets: is it just me...

Glad to say I had a very pleasant commute today- home and back (lidless). Gave them all a giggle in the office too as I wore LYCRA shorts for the first time in years. Not a pretty sight but dead comfy.

That's all clear then. I think I'll get myself registered.

Re: Boris-bikes

Hello Tobyj, Got to say, I'm pleasantly surprised by how well the system seems to be working so far. Plenty of people using the bikes and nobody falling off/wrecking or stealing them! I work in the Square Mile and am considering registering myself. Incidentally, I thought the first 30 minutes was fr...

Re: Helmets: is it just me...

Going lidless is liberating isn't it? A lot more comfortable too, especially when like me, you've got a head like a thirty bob cabbage. Never though of undoing the boot- genius! Good point Jonty. The thing that makes me angry is not so much their behaviour, I just resent them making me upset, joltin...

Re: 'I am very sorry, I haven't got a bell'

A very pleasant post Snakes. I took the bells off my bike, finding them largely pointless. If you sound them too close to people, particularly (in my experience) OAP's, it tends to startle them. Much better to scrub your speed down and manoeuvre around them appropriately or if I hang back, give a ge...

Re: Spa Cycles (Harrogate)

I ordered a pair of Exustar Stelvio shoes from Spa late at night on 27th. I was chuffed to find them waiting for me tonight. They were a great price and postage was free. Unbeatable service. I'm kicking myself that I've not used Spa before. I love the shoes too, but can't help thinking of Charles Ha...

Helmets: is it just me...

... or do drivers react differently when you're wearing one? I'd gotten well out of the habit of wearing my helmet over the summer, enjoying the freedom, wind in my hairs, etc. However, after a (very) near miss last week, decided to start wearing it again every trip. I use my Surly LHT for my daily ...
