I was cycling last summer along a particularly nasty and pot-holey peice of road, when a car overtook me, as usual, i didn't pay it much attension, but (very) shortly afterwards, i saw something beb thrown out of the car towards me.
i dodged out of the way, narrowly avoiding an accident with the car behind (who, lucky for me, was paying attention and was a safe stopping didtance behind).
i pulled off the road and went back to investigate, and found that i had been the victim of a water balloon!
had i got the reg. i would have reported it (especially as they were older than me (about 21ish)), as they obvbiously had no idea of what this 'joke' almost became.

Re: distance from kerb
re my previous comment about these frankly rediculous painted lines on the road, i intend to try and arrange a meeting with someone in charge of cycling in bucks to highblighbt the diffuculty faced by cyclists and the dangers these 'safe cyle routes' pose.
i would be greatful if any advise or anacdotes could be posted to, hopefully, help with my campaign.
thanks,
Matt

Re: distance from kerb
I have found, as a young cyclist in and arround Aylesbury, Bucks, that the 2million pound government grant to provide SAFE cycle ways has been spent on simply painting a white line about .5m from the kerb with the occational picture of a bike in it! What is thbe point, especially as it dissapears as soon as the road gets narrow anbd you actually NEED a cycle path!
