Recall reading somewhere recently about how many potholes there are in UK. Think it was something like a pothole every 120 yards. So you might have a good point, glueman !

Sorry for taking so long to reply.... Thanks for the info, guys.... Guess I would definitely save some weight if I changed the forks, but I've decided frankly it's not worth the expense and hassle of changing the forks. I'll just be more careful when I buy my next bike....... :oops: Thanks for all y...

Hi Chris,

Thanks for replying.
The bike is a Giant Sedona DX, so I guess at the lower end.
You're right on the weight. I did a bit more digging around. Looks like the forks add about 3-4kg to the weight, maybe more - a hell of a lot.
Won't make that mistake again, will I !!

Weight penalty of sus forks

Hi, Having bought a hybrid with sus forks (Suntour XCT), I was wondering just how much extra weight the sus forks add over rigid forks? The bike seems, to me, to be heavier than I expected (around 18kg). As I only do road/cycle path/light trail riding, would I be better off replacing them with rigid...
