Re: Pannier rack failures

Blackburn have a lifetime guarantee, although I have not seen any advertised recently.

I recently had an eye loosen on the rear end - 29 years old. The local motorcycle repairer inserted a Helical insert, which is working well-£15.

Re: Continuing cycling in older age - what is the secret if any?

Cycling does nothing for bone density. CyclingWeekly recommend hopping on each leg , 5 time s forward, backwards, to each side and on the spot. A radiographer friend agreed with this article and explained the physical process, unfortunately , I cannot remember it in sufficient detail to repeat it in...

Re: Safest tyre width for 22mm rims (Road)

According to the latest magazine, max tyre width is 1.8 times the internal width. I have been trying to find the reasons behind this without success. The same article gives a reference to a Schwalbe table showing their recommended widths. Quick calculation - multiply by 2 and subtract a tenth. Sever...

Re: Continental tyre degrading

I contacted Conti . They told me that they are an independent importer for Continental and cannot issue replacements from their UK warehouse to consumers. If I returned the tyre to the shop where I obtained it, the retailer would process my claim. Having moved 250 miles from the shop, I bought a Sch...

CUK website Contacts Page photo shows long-gone staff

On the web site and went to contact page to make contact ,
Interested to see it headed by a photo of head office staff. I may be mistaken but it seems to have a reincarnation of a technical officer, 2nd from right.

Should I have gone to Specsavers?

Re: shimano cassettes - 7-speed good : 8-speed no so good

BBB sell 13 up 8 speed cassettes. They also sell 14 and 16 up 9 speed. As has already been said cannibalisation seems the answer. Get a "used" 14 up and mate with your 11. It is odds that the 14 will have a lot less use than the mid range sprockets. I have some 15 Marchisio shimano fit spr...

FWIW Brexit is, I believe, derived from Britain. Suppose I should take the opportunity to add that Britain is a reduced form of Great Britain.

Re: Diverticulitis/diverticulosis

I was diagnosed 10 years ago. The Consultant shrugged it off, inferring that at my age having eaten an unsuitable diet for years, I would have to live with it. I have always been a muesli man but thought I would look at all the fibre contents. I ended up with Lidl bran flakes - 15%. Having heard tha...

Re: Cycle clubs or groups near Arnside in Cumbria

Met a rider from Carr Bank at last year's Birthday Rides. From my memory of living round there it not a very big place so you should be able to find him.
FWIW he has a dog which he walks(ed) up Green Lane in Storth past my old bungalow.

Re: On the road inflator for fat tyres

Have Airsticks on all my bikes. I tried one because I liked the principal of the T handle. Found it awkward until, by accident, I leant the wheel against my legs with the valve at the top and pumped inwards towards my legs. I have puzzled for several years as to why it should work, but have no answe...

Re: Cycle mag, CTC finally caved in re helmets & sold us out?

At the meeting Dan Joyce said that he already endeavoured to present a roughly 50/50 balance. It seemed to me that this was a surprise to the Council. Which , I felt went a long way to influencing the meeting vote. The minutes did not report this side of it. Unfortunately, my opinion is that the min...
