Re: Kojak tyres opinions
Thanks for that UpWrong. I think leaving them in the box is the best thing to do I had a look for the Panaracers but it looks like they only come in 1.75" for a 559 wheel, which is far too wide for my Alexrims DA16s. I will probably stick to the Marathon Racers, as they do give a smooth ride, although they too are a little large for the rims. I might get a spare wheel and put the rear Kojak on it for the turbo trainer in the winter. Seems a shame for relatively expensive tyre though. I should have done my homework a little better before buying them

Sorry about the triple posting folks, my PC is now very old and slow, and I thought that it had not sent, so sent it again, and again?

Re: Kojak tyres opinions
Hi UpWrong,
I have had a look at the boxes. Can't find a specific reference to the compound you mentioned, but what i know is,
20x 1.35 manufactured 5/07/21 performance race guard compound SpC HS385
26x1.35 manufactured 3/04/19 race guard compound SpC
Does this give you a clue?

Kojak tyres opinions
Hi, What are peoples opinions of Schwalbe Kojak folding tyres? I bought a couple a while back in 20/26, with a view to replacing the Marathon Racers I have fitted at present, to my Giro 20. From reading rolling resistance figures and some opinions, they do not seem to be very well thought of, apart from the weight saving. Some of the American reviewers on the other hand seem to rave about them. I only go out in the summer on the Giro, so winter hardiness is no problem for me.

Re: Pictures of your recumbent
How do you find running it without mudguards in the more inclement weather? I have always had them fitted on my Giro 20, as it looked to me to be the perfect instrument for coating the seat and the incumbent in grot. LOL! The factory guards, although effective, do exact a price with weight and wind resistance.

Re: P-38 build
Where did you buy your TA bottom bracket, if I may ask? Spa list an AXIS LITE, but I think theirs' has The CroMo axle not the titanium. I have a similar chainset to yours on my Giro, and fancy a lighter BB. Getting one in the longer axle lengths seem a bit of a problem.

Re: Pictures of your recumbent
Hi, I have a steel framed Giro 20. Much modified over several years, mainly for lightness. The Euro seat and alloy forks saved the most, though a front disc put a little back. XO shifters, with X7 nine speed mech. Spa 28,38,48 triple on the front, with Shimano XT block on the back. Gearing is perfect for me and I use them all. Sadly, little used and the moment, as I feel increasingly vulnerable on the roads these days. I know I am probably safer than when on my road bikes, but I like to think I would be able to throw myself in a hedge more easily from the uprights, should the necessity arise. LOL! I hope the picture can be seen, I am losing my grip with the technical stuff these days.

Re: Bent Seat Options?
Recumbent Parts.com in the Netherlands seem to have the hard shells for the Optima bents available. I have not dealt with them personally, but prices look good.

Re: Buying mudguards
You could try Cycle Centric, who deal with Bacchetta parts. Bacchetta list a specific mudguard set, which I have for my Giro 20 with 26 and 20 wheels, and is extremely good quality. Probably a bit pricey though, but very robust, and will take a good sized tyre. Has the usual stays and fittings for a normal bike, all in stainless.

Re: Shorts
I too use rowing shorts after recommendations from an American recumbent site. I got mine from Rock the Boat, which is a GB shop. They are perfect for me.
