Re: Saddle (prostate) advice - not sure what to do.

Hi Stubb-z, If you are tempted by the Rido ones which are liked to above, I have a couple of the LT models which I don't use any more sitting in the garage and I am happy to send you one for a minimal fee (essentially cover the postage). I originally got on well with them, and then all of a sudden d...

Re: Boardman ADV8.9E

Thanks for the ongoing updates re. the Boardman. Whilst not ruling it out, I am, at the moment, trying my best to see if I can carry on using an unassisted bike without having to fork out on an e-bike. So far, 300 miles done this month (after about 10 months off) with no serious back twinges as yet....

Re: Cycle Upgrade

In terms of local bike shops near Southport, Bicycle Lounge in Ormskirk has a good reputation. Also the team at Giant Liverpool (opposite the old Cains brewery) are very impressive.

Re: Boardman ADV8.9E

Thanks for the replies. I am definitely after something where I need to put some effort in. I like the feeling of having tried legs after a ride, it’s just I don’t want my back to pop from having to go too hard. So from that side of things, the Boardman (and the Fazua system) sounds ideal. It’s a bi...

Boardman ADV8.9E

I have been a fairly regular cyclist for many years, but have issues with my back. This is mostly caused by a weak core, yet despite doing exercises recommended by my physio it does flare up from time to time. I have particular issues whenever I need to put a bit more ‘oomph’ in, for instance on a h...

Re: Tacx Blue Matic assembly

For anyone who is interested, I appear to have solved the issue. After looking at a review of the model here: http://runnersandriderstraining.blogspot.com/2016/10/long-term-review-tacx-blue-matic-trainer.html it turns out that the instruction manual is wrong, and the screws should go through positio...

Re: Tacx Blue Matic assembly

Thanks, Norman. I'll try to get the screws through both bottom holes again and see how I get on.

Tacx Blue Matic assembly

Hi, I am unable to ride outside at present due to a ripped tendon in my finger which means I can’t brake. I am, however, lucky enough to have a Tacx Blue Matic turbo trainer which I got a few months ago but had not yet unboxed until yesterday. The problem is, I am perhaps the least technical person,...

Re: OBREA GAIN D40 (e-bike)

Thanks for those comments on the geometry - sounds very encouraging. Will have to sort out a proper test ride before I bite the bullet.

Re: OBREA GAIN D40 (e-bike)

Due to lower back issues I am considering an electric road bike to allow me to get up hills and overcome headwinds, which used to be no issue, but now are a bit of a struggle. The Orbea Gain is very tempting, but I am concerned the geometry may be a bit too aggressive. Another option could be a Cann...

Re: Shimano A530 Pedals – Reflectors Question

Thanks, that's useful to know. Not sure if I'll get them. As you said it's quite steep for a set of reflectors - though that doesn't necessarily mean that I am agreeing that you're insane :D

Re: Shimano A530 Pedals – Reflectors Question

I really don't feel you have to worry about not having reflectors on your pedals. You're probably right, I've got two lights front and back and the only riding I tend to do in the dark is on well-lit urban streets in and around Liverpool (please, no comments from anyone piping up that I should be m...

Re: Shimano A530 Pedals – Reflectors Question

Just to give an update on this, I've now rung 10 different bike shops, all of whom have looked in their boxes to inform me that the A530 pedals don't come with reflectors. Not only this, but none of them sell the reflectors, and Madison (who import Shimano equipment) don't import them either. Which ...

Re: Shimano A530 Pedals – Reflectors Question

Sounds like a good review, Andy. To be honest, I'll be predominantly using the SPD side myself, so the lack of grip on the other side won't be too much of a problem. Now I just need to get down to the LBS, check they come with the reflectors, buy them and practice unclipping until I'm 100% sure that...

Re: Shimano A530 Pedals – Reflectors Question

Good point about getting the person to look in the box. I think the best thing is to pop in to my LBS and see if they can open a box up for me. By the way, how do you find the pedals? Pigman: Thanks for the offer of your redundant clip in reflectors, but I think they probably won't work bearing in m...
