Have you tried gripping the rim of the slotted nut with a pair of pliers?

Re: DAWES SARDAR 50CM

I was about to say that although I wouldn't be buying this bike (one size too big), it would be a snip for someone and I wasn't wrong! The great thing about it was the new fork with proper steerer length - Dawes had always cut theirs too short. Shame Dawes stopped making the Sardar really. I think ...

Re: Extinction Rebellion

I'm generally in agreement. But I'm not so sure about tactics. If we want a clean and healthy planet we need folk to use less stuff. And that, surely, means a blockade of ports at Felixtowe and Harwich, and disruption to Heathrow. The idea is to draw attention to global warming and pollution(in it'...

661-Pete I think Ben was making a more general point about demonstrations of which workers strikes are the same, and not just about XR or climate change. AFAICS demonstrating highlight's a problem in the case of the French rail strike he mentioned it was a specific group of people work whether that ...

Re: Extinction Rebellion

And sooner or later folk get a bit cheesed off and begin thinking "Okay, you've made your point...". Maybe that is the stage we are at now. Yep, l think there are a lot of unintended consequences with such actions, including strikes or the threat of strikes. In 2018 we were intending to v...

Re: Handlebar + bell

Alternatively you could mount the Bosch E controller on one of these:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MTB-Bike-Flashlight-Handle-Bar-Bicycle-Holder-Accessories-Extender-Mount-Bracket/254234297831?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item3b318b85e7:m:mZj1A3e9CE134k58apBXXFQ&enc=AQAEAAACMBPxNw%2BVj6nta7CKEs3N0...

Re: Extinction Rebellion

What kind of crazy world do we live in that something which kills people every day (motorists) are allowed in London, but peaceful protestors are not? It would be un-English to not allow people to sit in their cars in traffic jams pouring out pollution in any city with a heavy footfall. And even mo...

Re: Libraries, public, renaissance of: DDC 020.336

IMO books are sources of either entertainment or information or both, some are very useful to keep for future reference some not so.To keep them for the sake of owning them doesn't add up to me. It's a bit like owning 50 bikes, and I know someone who does, but can't use them all. Much better IMHO to h...

Re: Park Chain Cyclone Cleaner

I admire your squeaky cleanliness :) I use a Weldtite chain scrubber,I've had it for,oh must be 20 years.I've never cleaned it inside and it looks grimey, but it it still cleans the chain with WS in it :) I use it for interim cleaning if the chain isn't quite mucky enough for a full remove and shake ...
