I agree, the market isn't large enough to sustain such a business.

Re: Father calls for cycle ban(after son's death)

It seems the tragedy is that a hit and run driver gets off so lightly, which it proves once again might is right in topsy turvy UK where might is right, and drivers get a slapped wrist for killing people going abot their lawful business. "Hit and run" as a cyclist, 16 months. https://www.bb...

Re: Disc brakes, hydraulic versus cable

Don't you run the risk of getting air into the system with hydraulic brakes if you have to up end the bike to remove a wheel? Thinking about if you have to fix a puncture when touring. Cable brakes would therefore be better in this situation. I've never had the need to turn a bike upside down when ...

Re: Disc brakes, hydraulic versus cable

My main observation is that flat bar hydros are cheap, and anyone who claims a cost saving over v brakes is being excessively parsimonious. OTOH the STI versions are a ripoff for now, but no doubt the price will continue to fall. I rather fancy myself a pair of the new Shimano gravel STIs with the ...

No he can't.
That's Mick's best shot or he'd have come up with a better story :?

Re: Tory leader - place your bets

Johnson is being paid £275,000 p.a. by the Barclay brothers, who also promote his leadership campaign in the Daily Telegraph. They live on Brechou in the Channel Islands, no doubt because they like the scenery. When Johnson is P.M. he will make decisions about pursuing tax avoiders. There may be ot...

Re: Tory leader - place your bets

Ultimately though I think the current system is broken, I was disappointed that we threw away any chance of proportional representation. We fell for the nonsense back then and won't be given another chance. Without that chance I relish the breakdown of the two party system as a way of forcing the h...

No, I was thinking about Rachel Johnson. I find her insights informative. Why might I be joking about that, or thinking about someone completely different? She'd get Mick f's vote that's for sure. https://i2-prod.ok.co.uk/incoming/article14400143.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/1094730_rachel_johnson_75c61180...

OK,I'll withdraw from the thread from now and I'll to remove all my posts from this thread forthwith. I hope I didn't offend. It wasn't my intention to do that, or come across as argumentative. It's just that I have been in OP's position, and I know what works (and what doesn't). I'm not offended y...

Re: Best Bike (very) Overweight

I don't think it unreasonable to advise the OP to lose weight and give up the fags, yes he's asked about cycling but at 175kg and a heavy smoker, with the health issues associated I repeat - the OP didn't want advice about his health and lifestyle. He wanted advice on what sort of bike to buy. To quo...
