Re: Gear cable barrel adjuster

Got one at my local recyc a bike, I used to help out there about 4 years ago so I know the guy,had loads lying around. All fixed now, incidentally can anyone shed any light as to why I’m going through about 2 cables/year? Everyone snaps at the ball end of the cable inside the shifter? Glad you got ...

Re: Off road history.

I've never ridden a suspension bike of any kind I'm curious, is that an active decision based on your requirements or a case of just not having had the opportunity to try one? (I mean properly, beyond a car-park style test). It's a bit of both really,I've never found a need for suspension as I'm no...

Re: Jess Varnish ..

AIUI, the current case is restricted to deciding JV's employment status as the recipient of élite athlete funding. Again AIUI, all governing bodies have assumed that funded athletes are self employed. If that turns out to be wrong, then there will have to be a lot of changes to the way it's all adm...

It was screwed into the shifter on the handle bars and it’s unwound itself whilst cycling and fell out.

I’ll take a pic and go to my local recyc a bike tomorrow

The handlebars shifter is regard in the MTB world as a pod

Re: Gear cable barrel adjuster

Is it the one on the STI pod?
If so it's a standard item, take a photo of it with your phone and show it to the bike shop owner/mechanic,I'm betting if it's a half decent shop they'll have one kicking about in a box of bits somewhere.

Re: Swallow Tandem

Swallow tandems were well built, highly regarded in their time, and still are.The one on Ebay is cheap because of the sizes it's built for giants  . If the seller's bike is a more normal size say 22in/19 or 17in and in as good a condition as stated it should be worth approaching £1,000 I would ...

Re: Corroded chainring bolts

If they're proving that difficult I'd WD40,GT85 or Plus Gas them liberally for a few days with repeated applications, then try the hacksaw blade trick.
Failing that, drill 'em out and fit new ones.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

I'm no prophet but IMO I can't see Brexit happening at all, though I can see a GE in the very near future. How long this government can hold on with the skin of it's teeth is anyone's guess but it cannot be long before it collapses in the incompetent heap it is. Shambles doesn't begin to describe thi...

If you ever get chance and return to Newburgh where you were brought up,have a ride out in the fields and watch the lads and lassies bent double picking sprouts, leeks, cabbages, etc. Then ask the farmer who employs them, how s/he would he supply the market without the free movement of people. East Eur...
