Re: What to do with camera footage

He left me about three inches of space between my handlebars and him. I frequently have the same experience commuting through London every day. On Monday a Tesco delivery driver was frustrated at my road placement, made a close pass and then lent out the window to shout abuse. I managed to remember...

Re: Cyclists in London aren't as bad as they are painted

Commuting in an and out of central london each day (Westminster to West Norwood) I often think my commute seems safer and more pleasant than previous commutes when I travelled from a small village into a large town (alebeit that was over 15 years ago when I was commuting to school!). There are the u...

Re: Book on bike maintenance

Thanks all, helpful advice. YouTube is certainly useful especially when I actually have something to fix but I'd like a book for reference and so I can learn a bit before problems arise. I'll have a look on Amazon, I think i'll go for the Haynes manual...

Book on bike maintenance

Can anyone recommend a good book on bike maintenance. I can change a tyre but that's about it and commute 15 miles a day in central London on a Marin Lucas Valley

A quick look on Amazon and there are plenty to choose from, has anyone used the Dummies Guide before?

thanks

Re: Race Across America

Thanks, I didn't know you had to qualify and assumed in a team of 4-6 cyclists plus support team you could split the costs evenly and it wouldn't be more than a couple of grand each. For me taking a year off work to cycle 200 miles each day woudld be very unaffordable and doesn't sound like much fun...

Race Across America

Has anyone here on the forum competed in the Race Across America? If so I'd be interetsed in hearing your thoughts about the experience either by private message or as open topic

TdF 2013 exact route

Hi, 2 questions. Does anyone have exact route details for this years Tour, i.e. the actual roads used I can oly find start and finish towns. The reason I ask is my parents live near Fougeres which is the start of the stage on July 11 and I wanted to cycle the route on the 10th. Is that something tha...

Re: Long day ride advice - 240 miles

Hey donnieban, sounds fun, I cycled London to Paris last summer, completing the 270 miles in just under 26 hours and it rained most of the way and don’t think I would have made it if I hadn’t changed my cycling shorts 3 times. We had a support car so had the luxury of catering for all eventualities ...

Re: Current weather

Thanks all, I cycled in this morning and there were considerably less cyclists than last week when it was much milder in London! No sign of ice about but the rest of the week may get colder. I'm going to take it a day at a time and if it gets treacherous I'm not too proud to do a few days on the bus...

Current weather

What does everyone think about cycling to work in this weeks weather? I'm a London commuter (West Norwood to Westminster) and haven't commuted in the winter before I wondered what everyone thought about safety on the roads in temperatures close to 0c or below (i'm not too bothered by the cold :twist...

Re: Difference in performance over 24 hours

What bike did you use after all? Did you stay with your hybrid? Did you ride in a pace line after all? Stuck with the hybrid which was a choice I was very happy with. My mates Boardman snapped a gear lever and one of the Planet X's was a casualty before we reached Dover. My Marin was a reliable tan...

Does that time include the ferry crossing or was the clock paused for that?

Yes that includes about 55 minutes before the ferry left and a 95 minute crossing.

It's been a grim summer for cycling with fair weather and no wind I think 24 hours would have been relatively easy!

Re: Difference in performance over 24 hours

Thanks for everyone's advice leading up to the ride. Just a quick few lines on how it went, if anyone is interested in the details let me know.. We had an interesting day! It was Saturday 7th July we left and we had driving rain and a headwind all the way, four of us started, two completed it includ...
