Re: Dooring Cyclists
The government is never going to punish motorists severely for anything as drivers have votes. Riding well away from parked cars is the best solution for dooring. The government should revise and improve its cycling campaigns to make it very clear to cyclists and motorists that cycling in the middle...

Re: Religion(sorry)we've been debating politricks and I..
I don't believe in god.
But I don't mind others doing so.
If people want to believe that Jesus or Allah are gods and that Elijah and Mohammed are their prophets then I don't have a problem with that.
But they have no evidence for their beliefs.
None whatsoever.
And they need to realise that.

Re: Corbyn to be PM within 6 months?
I wish Mr Corbyn well.
As a Conservative voter I am not at all impressed with the party's current performance.
Mr Corbyn is the ideal opponent during difficult times.

One day closer to Brexit.
Good to see that a hard Brexit is becoming more inevitable by the day.
I hope the anti-Brexit protesters had a nice day out in London today.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'
It was always going to be the case that brexit would be a **** up. It was always going to be the case that when it was the EU would be blamed, this was always going to be the standard 'get out' clause for supporters of brexit. The thing is, if you're a supporter of brexit you can't get out of it th...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'
German EU bureaucrat calls our Brexit decision stupid. <b>....in Brussels the influential chief of staff to the European commission president, Jean-Claude Juncker, called the vote for Brexit “stupid”. Martin Selmayr used a conference in Brussels to say: “Brexit is bad, and it’s a stupid decision.</b...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'
I think the EU's negotiators come across as arrogant and authoritarian. They should remember they are talking to a country that is walking away from their organisation because its people don't want to remain members, not a country which is in receipt of EU funds and needs to keep Brussels sweet. To ...

Re: Cycling Proficiency Certificate
My home town in suburban Manchester had a cycle rally for schoolchildren which involved a ride around the area during which you were marked for riding skills and adherence to the highway code. A splendid metal badge was awarded to people who passed for the first time and a bar was awarded for each s...

Re: It is earnestly to be hoped - we love the Guardian!
Not many people love the Guardian. That's why it asks people for money at the end of every article. The paper is a vanity publication of a bigger business empire which absorbs its huge losses. Surprising in some ways, for you have very often posted about the fact that you are a liberal and tolerant...

Re: Some people are more important than....
TV news is a waste of time. I rarely watch it because it is dumbed down, slow and dull, obviously aimed at the kind of slow-witted people who watch stuff like EastEnders and cake baking competitions. I do not need a short video of a person filling a car up with petrol to accompany an item about petr...

Re: downgrading with age.
I've regressed to 8sp and bar end levers on my road going bikes as they are simple and are compatible with MTB chainsets which give lower gearing more suitable for my age. There's no point buying the latest stuff when you are older as you go a tiny bit slower every year whatever you buy. An advantag...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'
But at least we'll have control over our sovereignty :? The words "shambles" "little" and "england" spring readily to mind....... Of course some peoples view may differ :? Mine do. I think Brexit is wonderful and I see no reason why the UK needs a parliament in two for...

I didn't realise there were so many Trump supporters here, echoing his warped views.
President Trump is quite a popular person.
That's how he got his current job.
