Not read all replies so sorry if I repeat... I have been diagnosed with Sarcopenia, not I hasten to add age related, tho. I am no spring Chicken, it is IBD related, presently under Physio only. However I have asked GP for a referral to a Specialist as it is now quite severe and worrying. Physio. literally couldn't suggest who I could be referred to, GP isn't sure either.
Incidentally I was only diagnosed/suggested by Physio quite by accident even though I have 'complained' about fatigue and tiredness for years to GP and just been sent for multiple blood tests and a couple of infusions.
Has anybody here or know someone who has been in situation and know of any 'fix' getting desperate now. t.i.a

Re: Itching all over
I really know what your going , through, I also have problem, especially in bed at night, and it prevents a good nights sleep, it's quite comical really, as I get it literally all over, moving like the blood in your body!
I have taken Loratadine in the past, which is not brilliant all above have been gone through with no help( washing powders detergents, soap etc) to no avail
Then I have a respite for a few months.
Ironically it is always better when I travel to warmer climes!!!

If a 'major issue' is an ailment that can stop you from walking driving sleeping for..(6 weeks in my case) Yes.
I flippantly said to my G.p that every Dr. should try it out to know how bad it is

Re: Gout on a bike
Just info. and maybe help, I am entering my 5th week of Gout, which had turned into an infected foot.
I had not had a bout for over 18 months, oh boy this was off the pain scale, I have had bowel removal in the past and that didn't come close to this.
I have held off having one-a-day Alpurinol (sp) as my 'attacks' have been few and far between and I deemed it unwise.
However I am having second thoughts, has anybody had a similar experience and maybe taking or considering Alpurinol, or any other remedy, any help will be gladly received. Tia

Would I dare a Bent
Just pondering the great Idea of my first Recumbent, trike or other. To say I know nothing would be an understatement! First off I just about know what traditional bikes to avoid buying, but don't have a clue when it comes to Recumbents.
So I would appreciate some name dropping !!
Also transporting, particularly trikes with a Motorhome or standard car.
Any input would be gratefully received

Re: When to rest
Things may have advanced, but I had read of a Delta Heart Rate(Greek for change) also known as Orthostatic test, simple enough to do. Lie down and remain still for 2 mins. noting lowest heart rate number in this position. As you slowly stand, note the spike in heart rate.
Subtract prone from standing..that is your Delta heart rate. Higher number the more stress on body. Delta HR over 30 bpm take day off 20-30 Cautionary THIS IS HIGH make it a recovery day
10-20bpm Normal. 0-10 Excellent
NB as a disclaimer, I take no responsibility for above stats, medical advice should be sought for any physical activity

Fork Swap?
New to cycling (stabilisers off next week?) is it a straight forward job to change suspension forks to rigid on Specialized Hybrid Cross trail, I am trying to lighten it up, and thought I would start there, any companies I should consider to source a set of forks
TIA

Re: How do you entertain yourself on long flight?
Do I see Dick Turpin around?? If ever a post got hi - jacked. Would like to help, but I have just got back from L.A. having driven down there from Chicago. Managed 10 mins sleep, before Steward woke me up to buckle up, that was it then, flitted through a few films t.v etc read kindle. I think it is best to get "in to" a book that you find hard to put down days before the flight, I find that best for me. Have a good time and enjoy flight
