Re: What's your favourite Chrismas song?

Don't ask me this question or you will get a serious answer. Actually love Noel/Nowell and Air Supply does a good version. We Three Kings, some folk groups can do a fantastic version of this I have heard. Also, not a big fan of Elvis but his Blue Christmas and even Here comes Santa Claus are very wel...

Re: Tracks in the snow

I did a bit of research recently on deer so please forgive a bit of meandering here, among the biggest types of deer ever were Irish Elk, they were almost 7 feet tall at the shoulders alone!! Can you imagine that! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Elk The biggest kind of deer presently are in fact,...

Re: Frame Blasting & Powder coating

I read this morning, someone had their frame powder coated with clear coat. Does this make sense? If one has a frame in fairly good shape, then go this route? I hadn't heard of this.

Re: Aching wrist

Those suffering from some of these aches might try Chondroitin Sulfate, Glucosamin, these kinds of supplements. I know there have been a few of these "numb" hands threads out so I brought this up on a search as I could not find the last one.

Re: Tracks in the snow

I'm disappointed to look into this thread, I thought Mick was going to treat us to some poetry but I guess I can't complain about a nice photograph. Buck, a big buck I saw not long ago, he had well developed antlers, maybe the best I had ever seen in the wild. I was out in a park and this gentleman ...

Re: My weekend - a rant.

...I might as well put this under the rant section. I think it's developing into the "stuff I bought and should have taken back" (but I'm too honest to do so) section  It's interesting that vintage clothing is in but wearing that kind of a sweatsuit in a gym/weight room would look s...

Re: My weekend - a rant.

At the charity shop a few years ago I got what I take is a '70s era sweatsuit, basically a vibrant turquoise or aqua colour, maybe robin's egg blue but otherwise much like in this photo I found on the web, no, that certainly is not me. It works well as a base layer in the winter. It works to keep on...

Re: Gym Leg Exercises: Can it really help in Cycling??

Here is an illustration of the "Prone" leg weight lifting machine, not sure if I said that exactly right but "Prone" is in there, I read it yesterday. This machine seems very uncomfortable to me but that may mean it does it's duty well. http://www.advantagemedical.com/shop/images...

Re: Lighter bikes a waste of money???

Wheels as mentioned is a big deal.

Makes me wonder about some of the really exorbitant priced ones one sees. Maybe better to get these expensive wheels and forgo a new bike if one has a decent frame to begin with??? Yet, it's difficult for me to pay so much only on wheels.

http://protourquebecmontreal.com/news/14/104/Retour-vers-le-passe/ Pierre Gachon in these nostalgic pictures wearing the Maple Leaf. So, I take it he was French Canadian/ Canadien in their language and a subject of the British Empire. Tony Hoar may well have been a Canadian as well back in the day. ...

Gym Leg Exercises: Can it really help in Cycling??

To the main point of my question during these winter months if one works with exercise equipment or even exercising at home, for example, squats, can working on the leg muscles, quadriceps, glutes, etc. really have an effect on one's cycling when the weather gets better? Would any exercises be recom...

Re: Worth watching to the end ....

Speaking of fatalities, not sure if it was mentioned anywhere on these forums but 10 days ago, there was a tragedy where Seven cyclists were killed by a motorist in Italy. The motorist is an immigrant from Morocco and was using drugs and who had no license to drive, his license had been taken away f...
