Help please with cottered spindle
Hi there, I have an an old 531 Raleigh that I am re- building, it came with a cottered bottom bracket in excellent condition. I have a Williams single speed chainset I need to fit, but the existing axle is to short. Would anyone be able to offer advice on the correct length I may need or how to determine it. I have scoured the Internet without much luck.

slipping off the airbed
I had a lot of trouble staying on my self inflating airbed last year when camping, constantly waking up and repositioning the sleeping bag. I tried these nonslip mats underneath but to no avail.... any ideas please?

I have just acquired a set of shimano bar end shifters which are indexed, can anyone tell me if the ones for the front derailleur are indexed or just friction only please.

Re: Holdsworth frame
Not had much luck with the Holdsworth frame yet. I discovered the stays do not go right over the top, only partially curved over. The number is 014906 which dates it to mid 1970,s and the Reynolds transfer appears the same date. It has Campagnola rear drop outs but would I really like to know the model name. The Reynolds sticker has Reynolds slanting. Could it be the International model. l it is original and sprayed gun metal grey with a lamp bracket on the front, or was the Mistral made with partial overstays. Checked all the recommended sights but really none the wiser.

Holdsworth frame
Does anybody know if Holdsworth produced a Mistral without top tube cable eyes. I have a Holdsworth frame which is Reynolds 531, with double butted frame, forks and stays. The rear stays are also wra pover. I would be grateful for some info, many thanks.

Re: Anyone not get frozen fingers today
I purchased a really nice pair of lobster gloves from Aldi recently, and most stores now have a large amount of cycling gear at well reduced prices, so it might be worth a look at a store near you, if you have one.

Rides and ribs
Well, I finally got out today after having most of January off. I suffered a few broken ribs after falling in my son's bath early in the month. ( I was totally sober) I felt so good when I got home, only 15 miles and a frozen drink to boot. But...on the road again as the song goes. Looking forward now to the Birthday rides in August.

Try Velo Solo, they used to have old type grips.

karimoor panniers
I have just got some Iberain panners from Ebay, brand new with the fittings. They are 23ltr would these be ok with a smaller pair on the front for cycle camping. i also got a Karrimoor bag with the set but not sure what this was designed for? it has a map pocket but no fittings only nylon rings on it. Is this just a shoulder bag or a bar bag?

Hi, try your local Aldi, there are still lots left at three stores near me. I think they are better than Lidl at similar prices.

Re: First bought a coffin, now a BSO folder!
Hi there. I have a Dahon TSR that I purchased from ebay at a very fair price. I haven't toured on it but used it on the CTC birthday rides in August this year and the rides I did were over 60 miles each day. The rest of the folks I rode with had road bikes and I managed to keep up with them. I have done a lot of other rides up to 30 miles this summer and can only say it is a fabulous bike to have and can recommend it whole heartedly.
