Re: Wiggle ftw

I have used them a number of times lately and always good service. Perhaps ordering the correct bits helped.

Re: Cassette comparisons

Making up a cassette is straightforward enough. Only if you have the parts. I strip and clean my cassettes every month or so as its quick and easy, and gets them spotless. Changing ratios at the same time is no problem. Once you strip one once they are simple, if you have never stripped one they ho...

Re: Cassette comparisons

Fred Williams Cycles has boxes with sprockets in and sells singles. Or they can make up a custom one for you, say 12-28 rather than 11-28 or 12-27.

Re: Road tyre tread of any benefit or not?

Its the ability of the rubber to cut thru the loose stuff and contact/grip the road. With wide rubber like a car has then it will aquaplane, in other words the water or other media can not move out of the way fast enough before the wheel turns and it is on a new patch of media. By adding tread the w...

Re: Cassette comparisons

its 10 speed. I keep to 10 speed and 105 etc on all of my bikes so that they ride the same, it may seem odd wanting 3 the same but its a long story and thats how I like them :) I will elebourate if your interrested but its not worth the typing IMHO. Anyway, I did think of just buying a 28-24-21 part...

Wiggle

Again wiggle have done me proud. I had a Raleigh Carbon Comp last December and for the price I was more than impressed. Under a grand for a full carbon bike with 105 group set and a good spec all around. After about 8 months of riding and 2500 miles or so the frame developed a hair line crack by the...

Re: Owed more than £500 and feeling rather irritable...

I hate when these things happen, why cant people just be straight with each other? You returned the goods, they should refund. Simple. I believe the cost of postage is questionable as its not their fault you returned, it but something like £20 post out of a £500 refund would be acceptable I am sure,...

Re: Cassette comparisons

That's about what I thought then, I don't see the point in splashing out twice the price for something that will work no better. I did have a giant OCR with tiara and truth be told it indexed perfectly, just as smooth as the 105 group sets. I thought I must be missing something but it seems not. I t...

Re: Cleaning chain shortening its life ?

I clean my chain when it looks ready :| Sort of get used to looking and knowing its time. Perhaps after 500 miles or so as a rule. I have a tried and tested method now. I remove it and drop it in a bath of WD40, I have 10 liters and about 2 of that is now dirty in a tub. After 1/2 hour or so I go fi...

Cassette comparisons

I have 3 road bikes, all 105 equipped and all working a dream. All 3 are 53/59 chain ring and 12-25 rear, but this week end I am doing the autumn epic and have decided to buy a 12-28 for the event, it will also be called upon next year for riding the tour de France with a friend (we plan following t...

Re: non tv licence

I don't object to paying for the license as I do watch a fair bit of BBC, I do object to paying a monthly fee for commercial channels such as cable and sky. They have to decide, do they charge us or the advertisers? Not both please. Just to annoy the local council I have my own trick btw. All of my ...

Re: Halfords service - Boardman Bikes

buy the bike and check it over before riding, they are a top class bike from bottom class stores! If your not confident pat a lbs a few quid to check it for safety, on a new bike they wont charge a lot.
