Re: decent 1/8th chain

A couple of years ago I bought a number of KMC 710SL 1/8" chains from Planet X @ *£3 each ( *Probably 'cos they were PINK ! ) - Impressively smooth and quiet and lasted me well commuting in all weathers.

Re: Moulton SST -- reasons (not) to buy?

While I'm ranting I might as well quote myself. I have owned a few Moultons and I think as a do it all bike they are fantastic. My pride and joy is my AM-18, it is off the road while all the salt is down but I can't wait be be riding it again in the next few months. The downside about Moultons are ...

Re: BB30 bottom bracket observations

If used for cross the previous owner may have jetwashed the bike? or been over enthusiastic spraying cleaning agents or WD40 around the bearing area which would remove probably get past the seals on the BB30 bearings and break down the grease.

Re: Huge increase in price of Surly Ogre forks

Surly stuff in general has increased in price in the last couple of years - Maybe the Trump effect? or import / export duties, or maybe just down to Ison Distribution who set the prices.

Re: Jtek extra layback seatpost

Finally got round to fitting said post. Pleasantly not fiddly to mount the saddle and angle adjustment is nice and easy too. Saddle stayed in place and hasn't moved on a bumpy ( fully rigid ) mountain bike ride. SJS quote the layback measurement @ 30mm which seems about right.

Re: Lake District roads in late November?

Snow and more likely ice from a frost would be the most to worry about. Exercise caution with fallen leaves and large puddles. Autumn can be a great time to be out on a bike in the lakes. If weather good a nice route from Oxenholme ( to miss out Kendal ) would be along the lane to the north of the r...

Why not suggest that one of Evans cycle mechanics join you for a short ride, so they can observe the gear changes and possible problems?
