Re: End of lockdown across UK and Ireland - confusing?

Firstly best not to call Republic of Ireland (Ireland) Eire when talking or writing in English - it will offend some people (not going into the political nuances as to why on this forum!). The situation here in Ireland is still unclear. The Government is supposed to come out on the 9th July and set ...

Re: about Father Brown's time travelling bicycles

I agree . Everytime I see that bike I think it would have had rod brakes. I restored one of these vintage bikes to take part in a local rally tht was taking place. I didn't find the rod brake's worked very well so perhaps that is why they don't use them. Here in Co. Limerick we have a bicycle busine...

Re: Sturmey Archer 5 star hub gear thumb shifter

If I use two three speed shifters I assume that I should use two sturmey archer 3 speed shifters, Can I use the traditional click shifters I would have had on my old Triumph Palm Beach bike back in the 1960s?

Re: Sturmey Archer 5 star hub gear thumb shifter

Hi Thanks for everyone's help. The pictures shows the shifter and internal assembly and the parts list (this came with the bike about 30 years ago - I keep these things!). I tried sticking the small knob back on but it just came off again. The left hand slider should be a mirror image of the right h...

Re: Sturmey Archer 5 star hub gear thumb shifter

Thanks very much for that. I gave the bike to a friend a few years ago and she only really uses it to go to village and visit her daughter. It is a ladies Dawes Diaploma and has a very comfortable riding position, quite light and easy gears with the hub gear. I didn't want to have to buy a new hub j...

Sturmey Archer 5 star hub gear thumb shifter

a small part has broken off the above - HSJ829 is the gear shifter part number. I did buy a new gear shifter for the bike about 20 years ago and the only place on the web I have found is oldbiketrader.co.uk but the site says when you go to buy that , they are ill at the moment. Anyone know where els...

Re: Any recommendations of Companies that organise Cycle holidays in Denmark

Hi

Eurobike , an Austrian company, has cycling holidays in Denmark. WE have used them for the last 4 years (Brenner Pass to Verona, Villach to Trieste and others) and they are brilliant. Everything was perfect and they are cheaper than the equivalent UK companies.
