Re: Petrol at Record High!

There is a form of transport used by humans long before mechanisation (including bicycles) we are all forgetting................The Horse. Perhaps our four legged friend could make a come back. Don't laugh it happened in Planet Of The Apes. The Shire breeds especialy to carry all the obese people.Ju...

Re: Dawes Super Galaxy v Tricross Sport

This seems to me to be a reccuring theme. What some one needs is a touring bike but the usual suspects Dawes Galaxy etc just don't get the pulse racing enough for people to commit to buying one. Where as the Tricross, Genesis etc may not be as practical but have that desire factor. If you are going ...

Re: Petrol at Record High!

OIl will run out but will the car continue in another form electric etc. I think that society as a whole has just become too dependant on the car for things to change quickly. I don't think thats a good thing but thats the way it is.

Single speed crank legnth 170 or 175 ?

I am building a single speed bike mainly for commuting. I have a road chainset with 170mm long cranks. I also have a MTB chainset with 175mm cranks. Which is the best to use ? The extra leverage of the 175 or would the 170 be easier to spin ? Or perhaps there is not much of a difference. I can't try...

Re: No-lights cyclist killed

Surely we have to take responsibility for our own actions. Everything these days is someone elses fault. If I were to go walking on Ben Nevis in flipflops bermuda shorts and a vest I would be risking my own life and the lives of others sent to rescue me. I would be very stupid. If I ride a bike at n...

Re: Petrol at Record High!

Perhaps you are too young to remember when we used to make things in this country. We used to be good at it. We could be again. It is a better way to make a living than financial speculation. Things can be other than they are now. Mike Sales I am certainly not that young and worked in engineering f...

Re: Petrol at Record High!

Don't forget high fuel prices affect the price of everything transported by road. The goods which are transported furthest will cost more relative to the local produce. Consumers will choose goods which produce less transport. Seems like a good idea to me. Mike Sales So there will not be many of us...

Strip it. sell the frame on Ebay offering postage to attract best price. Keep any thing that will wear out on your bike or can be used on other projects sell the rest. Sell the Trek you dont use it. Not sure about the Brompton I have a cheap Dahon folder which does not get used much but it is useful...

Re: No-lights cyclist killed

Some of these small LED lights are barely visable and sometimes not only do they have no lights but they are trying to be totaly invisible by wearing dark clothing and black wooly hats. I dont think lights are enough you need some reflective Hiviz on.I mean a lot of us have to wear the blooming stuf...
