Sticking cantis

I have cantilever brakes fitted to my commuting bike (OnOne Pompino). I find that they eventually become stiff and the springs are unable to push them away from the rims. The "internet answer" to this problem is invariably to clean and grease the bosses - but this doesn't work (and, unless most cantis are unlike the three different makes that I have worked with, displays a surprising ignorance of exactly which bit of the brake pivots). As far as I can see the brakes are all designed so that brake arm pivots on a bush and it's the bush that bolts to the boss. In order to get the brakes to work well you need to lubricate the bush/arm interface not the boss/bush interface. In none of the three makes that I have used (OneOne own brand, Avid and Frog Legs) was it possible to effectively clean and lubricate this surface.

Am I missing something? There must be others on this board who use cantis for year-round high mileage and who have encountered and hopefully solved the inevitable sticking problem.

Cheers,

U.

Re: Family Routes in SW London / N Surrey

We took the train to Godalming in the summer then rode along the tow path to Guildford and took the train back from there. It was a great success.

Fahrrad Manufaktur T400 stolen in SW London

Black Fahrrad Manufaktur T400 stolen from a shed in SW London 2 weeks ago. Unusual bike - not many of the around. Please keep an eye out.

Also stolen at the same time was a Specialized Roubaix expert - but it's a reasonably common bike so not so easy to spot if it comes up for sale.
