Re: It's not about the bike stupid.

the OP says, it isn't about the bike it's about the ride.

What's 'it'?

If 'its' the enjoyment, then I agree.
I could be sitting on anything but if it keeps me moving and doesn't squeak, rattle or have bits fall off, then I'm happy.

Hot weather fluid consumption

When I cycled in Ethiopia and Sri Lanka the temperature was frequently around 30°.
Looking back I don't think I handled my fluid intake very well..
Apart from avoiding the midday heat what advice would you give for fluid intake?

Re: Last night I caught thieves breaking into bike sheds of a well known hostel

Fort William has an outside shed and there is a short cut through the kitchen.
Useful to know if staying there.

Nice idea. It looks like something I could knock up in the shed with some wood off cuts.

Re: Do I really need a Garmin GPS ??

I second your point on needing time, a lot of it, to get to grips with them. I think the etrex series are, with a few provisos, great, but the introductory material sure isn't up to much. If anyone gets one I'd advise them to use it intensively for a few weeks at least, including finding your way t...

Re: Connecting flight time tight

Thanks folks. All good information and opinions here. To clarify; both legs are on Turkish airlines. If I don't take that option the other involves 21 hours stop over in Istanbul. I have previously had a 23 hour dtopni et and took a very expensive airport internal hotel room for 8 hours. That still ...

Connecting flight time tight

Looking to fly from Edinburgh to Delhi via Istanbul.
There is a gap of 1hr 25 mins between flights.
Any experience of tight transfers?
I'd hate to arrive in Delhi without my bike.

Re: Pamir 2019

I have a 3 hour lay over. What's more you have to watch out for changing terminals in Moscow. Polish citizens don't need any visa if they don't change terminals. Some flights from Moscow to Osh are operated from the same terminal as flights from Berlin to Moscow and some are not. It's a pitty you c...

I don't have any blog on crazy guy but I can keep you informed here. Yes, indeed, I'm flying from Berlin to Osh (Aeroflot) Thank you. I will explore that flight from Berlin to Osh. But I see there is a 30 hour lay over on some flights!?!? I had been planning to use Turkish airlines from Edinburgh v...
