My point is I think other countries a cycle route continuing across a road inside solid white lines might have priority over the road always ie cyclists may cycle across without slowing almost to stop in case of needibg to give way to priority traffic, in same way that vehicles on a main road, with priority over side roads , flow normally. A cyclist mistakenly doing that at a tiger crossing might get a unwelcome surprise, as like the pedestrian they are meant to enter crossing, only when a gap or traffic has stopped so free flowing road traffic with priority may hit as they enter the crossing .
I thought the give way sign for cyclists avoided that misdirection, similarly imo the original tiger crossing markings of simply wider (possibly yellow ) zebra style stripes did by saying this is a zebra but for cyclists too. The chosen uk layout could look like a cycle priority crossing beside a zebra so the 1st time one is encountered a misunderstanding is possible.

Re: Tiger Crossing Picture
I note the example in cycling embassy photo upthread has a give way sign for cyclists, presumably to avoid (mainland European? where the following meaning would be more likely?) cyclists thinking their route is the 'main' road with full time priority rather only gaining priority once they have entered into a clear crossing

Re: Cycle Travel Question
Thanks for your reply...
Could the go direct feature be sort of hacked into manual routing by allowing it to be split into vias which can then be dragged, in combination with the disable recalculate autoroute button option you hinted at wishing to add earlier , to reduce work at server, recalculating same route parts)?
In the meantime I suppose one could generate a rough autoroute in cycletravel then export to gpx and load into a dumb plotter to finish.
Thanks for all the hard work, just a pity that a mixed auto/manual mode is probably too hard to belatedly add in.
Once again thanks for your work, I use cycletravel a lot.

Oh dear , was some code not encapsulated in the right place?Richard Fairhurst wrote: ↑12 Apr 2021, 1:08pm The problem with that is when you say "simply", in practice it means "rewrite the entire routing engine and user interface", I'm afraid!

Re: Cycle Travel Question
I feel it would better for an auto route planner to also work easily as a simple route plotter (i.e. by simply turning autorouting off) rather than requiring a separate tool. If you start with autorouting but need a lot of adjustments etc, the constant autorouting and correction cycle seems unnecessary and tedious but having to decide in advance to use a dumb plotter seems inflexible...
Perhaps best for an autorouter to also easily work as a dumb plotter via an interactive auto onoff button rather than require swapping between app/websites?.....
One router/plotter to rule them all but in the brightness help them....?
Thanks for all the maps

Brompton tensioners 3vs6?
The Brompton 6 speed tensioner can cope with slightly bigger rear sprockets than the 3:
is this due to smaller jockey wheels or because the inner tensioner arm is longer on down direction?

Re: Rear v brake fitted to Brompton using v brake boosters as mount to fit on brake bridge bolt?
Yes, I was only considering it for the rear,
at the front the non standard options I eould choose would be hub brake or tt style with side cable entry or a centre pull modded to use same side entry as a tt brake or v brake
At the front I dislike the upside down cable entry which all the above 3 should avoid though the hub brake is probably neatest (known cos I have one).

Thats pretty much what I was thinking off, though perhaps with 2 boosters sandwich.. which might be unnecessay. Thanks.

Rear v brake fitted to Brompton using v brake boosters as mount to fit on brake bridge bolt?
I don't like the assymmetricness of the Bromptons rear dual pivot brake and its related uneven pad wear so I wondered, if at the rear only, a DIY rear V brake conversion could be implemented simply by mounting 2 or more stacked brake boosters (for stiffness) to hold the v brake, with said sandwiched boosters attached to the brake bridge bolt? Such a contraption would only be for the rear as I can use off the shelf brakes for the front if my hub brake ever expires..
From other peoples 'proper' brazed v conversions , rear cable routing does not seem a problem..

Seem to sell to uk.
Re credit cards if eucommission canlawgully cap their charges why couldn.t uk government, if the rise on charges was unjustifiable?
It doesnt seem a big rise. Buying from mainland Europe means higher postage anyway?

I wonder why the trail hasnt been extended to Rowsley and ncn 680:
Could the haddon tunnel and coombs road viaduct not be bypassed by coombs road and where it ends the path thru / alongside manners wood to rejoin trackbed at southern exit of haddon tunnel?

Re: Monsal Trail from Bakewell
Perhaps the absemt bridge across the road is obviously not the coombs viaduct..no not from googleearth.... My memory is of the path stopping at an embankment dowm which I coukd look down at the road and wonder where the viaduct was, I expected some sort of info board about how to see it or cycle under it etc. If I had cycled south, away from bakewell I would have gone under it, from google it seems I should have seen it when I checked left before joining road but I didnt so went home thinking it demolished....
Well this explains why I couldnt see the viaduct from the trail, the path curves away from rail bed early and has a bit near the road where I thus wrongly assumed the viaduct would have been , bahhh

Why does the path stop short of the via duct, surely it could have a short stub after the exit with notice info board across/barring the viaduct. Is the viaduct unsafe?
