Re: Cycle Travel Question

Given many cyclists like of Premier Inns, is there sone way of getting their hotel locations into cycle.travel. Some osm seems to have it as text on the map.

It seems strange for Premier Inn to restrict such info, if they do: potential customers need to find you to become actual customers... :)

Thanks all.

How long do you have between arriving at KX and leaving Paddington?
That depends what train I choose: I had been aiming to have not too much gap before I could get into the Paddington lounge after reaching Paddington, hence near or after 1900 hours, I had been thinking.

Thanks that sounds reassuring.

Re: London underground/tube to transfer between kings cross and paddington with a loaded unfolded bike?

Thanks, but I dont want to navigate through london on my own, on a loaded folding bike, while having a train to catch. Plus I hate narrow 2 way cycle lanes with nothing but a kerbs distance between one lane and the allpurpose lane*, and London will presumably have lots of oncoming cyclists, so I'll be squeezed on both sides.

*and Google earth seemed to show them.

Given the likelihood of confirmation bias, recommending people try for themselves something tested, shown not to be beneficial and recommended against by experts is probably not to be recommended.

If you're later in life and struggling with glare, better to seek professional advice, I suggest.
remember back when French cars all had yellow headlights to "fix" this sort of thing?
noticed how they don't have them any more?

Maybe there's a connection there... 🤔

Pete.
The French unhelpfully didnt collect much data on their experiment, so I think the best that can be said is that it didnt have much effect on safety but old style halogen headlamps didnt produce much blue light so the selective yellow filter didnt reduce brightness of drivers own headlamps significantly: https://www.danielsternlighting.com/tec ... color.html(search for phrase '50  are blue' ). So if excess blue light is simply unwanted...?

Re: Ebike Stzvo or Led mr16s with 10degree beam: main beam?

I wonder if 6V compatible E bike lights driven by something like a device such as a (6V+ capable) https://adeptelectronics.co.uk/velocharger/ variant, would give less flicker at low speed than LED Dynamo lamps due to the device being optimised for more constant power to the unit under charge?

London underground/tube to transfer between kings cross and paddington with a loaded unfolded bike?

Has any one used used the London underground/tube to transfer between kings cross and paddington with a loaded unfolded bike, when allowed, after 1900? I presume one can wheel it the whole way to the platform, and use lifts /ramps rather than stairs etc?

that is indeed very cheap for such a bight light. However, I can't help wondering if it is correctly listed, since it claims 80 lux or (much less impressivly) 80 lumens depending on where you look on that page.
In the photo of the actual packaging, that itself says 80lux, so 80lumens is presumably a Amazon typo.

Re: hilux ebike lamp better than Led mr16s with 10degree beam: main beam?

I wonder if affordable hi lux Stzvo E bike front lamps aimed high might be better/simpler/more affordable than said narrow MR16 eg
https://www.amazon.co.uk/M-Wave-Unisex_ ... B092M1PY1FA pity the min voltage is usually 6 rather than 5Volts (usb power bank standard volts)...

The Germans 1st allowed sporty cyclists of lightweight bikes(bikes below a certain weight), because said cyclists had taken to not using approved? lights at all... From.memory: Source CJ . Nb this may have been before Stzvo dynamo hubs appeared/were affordable.

Only later was anyone else allowed out of the Stzvo dynamo cage.

Re: New commercial dynamo lights

Why would 'dynamo's be less common? Ic engine cars haven"t decided to stop running their always available lighting from the alternator: battery cycle lamps give me range anxiety...

I notice Busch and Muller have a new expensive dynamo Stzvo headlamp with a main beam.

It seems the Brompton superlight front hub uses cartridge bearings, so that might be a source of a suitable axle, if still available. Dahon/tern cartridge hubs might also?

EDIT it seems the superlight axle uses 6900 (26 x 10 x6mm) bearings which have a 10mm ID, so the axle suits that diameter. But I am not sure if Brompton even supply the whole hub as a spare anymore (mumble mumble).
