Re: Pads for BB7

Well being the muppet that I am when I looked up the brakes on my bike online I picked the wrong the year so instead of having Avids I've got Shimano BR-R505, no idea what the difference is yet in performance, just about to do some research but it does mean I've ordered the wrong pads so need to sen...

Re: Sport Pursuit website

Used several times now and the service has been good, as long as you don't need the goods in hurry. Prices are usually good although discounts given are based on SRP figures and not the price that most companies sell at.

Re: Pads for BB7

Have you managed to find the servicing notes? I looked on their website the other day and could only find the warranty document...

Re: Pads for BB7

Just posted a similar thread a few days back, I've ordered some EBC Golds to try out, hopefully should be here tonight. I'm also going to try adjusting the cable again. One person on here said that you can pull a little more through the caliper arm which is worth a shot. Will let you know how I get ...

Re: Which brake pads

I was approaching 40mph the other day on a longish ascent near Petersfield .... I used to manage 40mph on longish descents near Petersfield.... (Stoner, Butser etc. .... I grew up round there...) 40mph on an ascent needs.... an engine.....   cheers Oops, yeah, definitely meant ...

Re: Which brake pads

Cheers for the response, on my (very) old mtb with rim brakes I used to be able to lock up the back wheel if I needed to so I knew the limits. I was approaching 40mph the other day on a longish ascent near Petersfield and started bottling it a bit and just didn't have the ability to slow down quick ...

Re: Which brake pads

So looking around would these do the job http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=53369 the aggressive pads? That reminds me I need to have a quick look at the ones I've got in there now although they're originals if that helps?

Which brake pads

HI guys, you were awesome at sorting out my gearing issue, can now climb hills much easier. I want to sharpen my Avid BB R7s, I know being a cable they'll never be as good as hydraulics but I was wondering if there were better/worse pads on the market. I'm quite happy to lose longevity of pads if it...

Re: Rear cassette question

Cheers all, that's really helped a lot, I didn't realise you could fit MTB rear mechs onto road bikes. I think initially that's what I'll do, replace the mech, rear cassette and chain, if I need further I'll play around with the front crankset. Final questions, when I order parts, do I need any spec...

Re: Rear cassette question

Cheers for the replies. I've just looked at the mechs on their at the moment the front is a Tiagra FD4503 with 50-39-30 sprokets on there, the rear is a 105 RD5600, not sure whether it's a SS or a GS though, I can't find that code on the derailleur. They both have a largest sprocket of 27T and a sma...

Rear cassette question

I've recently got back into the cycling bug partly to get fit and partly because I'm getting quite hooked. I've dropped from 17stone to just under 15 and a half, hoping to lost the same again but I do struggle on the hills. I don't walk up hills at all but I'm not quick by any means and my last 35 m...
