Modofied e bike case

I feel it very difficult to reconcile this case with that of the Alliston case . Both on illegal bikes, one doing 10 mph the other 30 mph . The 30 mph e bike case gets off Alliston gets 18 months sentence and they change the law

Re: Anyone else getting close to 1 million miles?

Why so many negative posts about him. I think its something to celebrate . He is not of the GPS generation so verification would be difficult , but I am sure his club members know its genuine and he does not seem to be the type of person to exaggerate . In his younger day he was fast so probably mos...

Re: Cycle space on trains

In my area Shropshire its generally multiple units with one that had a toilet and disabled access etc in one carriage, where you are supposed to store bikes though it does not always say so. I find no issue if I get on at the starting point of the train , but after that its pot luck particularly as ...

Re: The worst place in the UK for cycling?

Well, my nomination, back in 2011, was Telford. Funnily enough I went through there a couple of weeks back on a cycle tour. Don't know what it's like as a whole but I followed the Silkin way and NCN85. Have to say that it was very pleasant. Used a perfectly adequately surfaced old railway line to g...

Re: Parking on cycle lanes

although government doesn't seem keen to ticket it without double-yellow lines too. Enforcement is another issue though, and like the mobile phone while driving thing, it’s not good changing the rules if the existing ones aren’t going to be enforced. So we should make driving while using a phone , ...

Re: A cyclist and real justice

Personally I am not so interested in prison sentences , though he deserves it , they are expensive and do little good . Its the ban that gets me. It should be a life ban in these situations not 18 months , driving is not a human right . If you cannot control yourself it should be a life ban , after ...

Parking on cycle lanes

"While a proposed ban on pavement parking has proved a mostly popular suggestion, Cycling UK highlight that beneath this, new rules were quietly brought in recently that allows parking in cycle lanes marked with solid white lines. Cycling UK say: "This change, made without notifying counci...

Re: Proposal to ban petrol and diesel cars from Scottish cities

Just wished we had a clear country wide co-ordinated policy , I live in Shropshire , the council are saying they are going carbon free but at the same time they have reduced park and ride There are no plans for the only railway line to be electrified. They want to build far more houses and industria...

Re: Cycle Parking at Brands Hatch?

I think in these situations you just have to improvise , cheap bike and 2 locks and a very public place to lock the bike. Normally ok as no professional bike thieves . I have been I reckon the only one to cycle to a V festival Weston Park . Was home in 30 mins and I regularly cycle to Wimbeldon tenn...
