Tyre problem

Hi All Picked up a p*******e a couple of nights ago. I was at a busy junction and could not stop, so I had to cycle about 100 metres with the tyre deflated to get to a safe place. To cut a long story short, once I got home and fixed the tube and removed the glass, I could not get the tyre to seat on...

Re: Pictures of your bike(s)

Here are my two commuters.

First up is Claude Butler Urban 100 with upgrades. The summer bike.

Second is an 80's Townsend Montezooma, used as the winter/Ice bike. Using this from this week until February. Slow but indestructible. Marathon Studded tyres will go on it when it gets below 0c.

Wild life

I haven't posted for a while, been watching though! I thought I would share this with you. I live in an urban sprawl, but we do have an un-made up alley way running down the side. Over the years, we have had our fair share of wild life visit the garden, foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels, bats and a heron ...

Re: Thinking of winter pain...

I use an old 26 inch wheeled mountain bike when weather turns really nasty. Studded tyres with lowered pressures. A lot slower than my usual bike, but in ice and snow, slow is good.

I put slicks on it for the spring though to autumn and it gets used on the commute if the other one lets me down.

Re: My Dog.

Really sorry to hear about your loss. They are not called man's best friend for nothing.

Take some time and think about getting another dog later on. Once you have had a dog, it's very difficult to live without one.

Re: Lumicycle MR11 halogen upgrade to LED

Hi All Whilst trawling internet, I have just come across this http://www.ledcentre.uk.com/267-10-smd-power-5050-mr11-mini-spot-led-light-bright-white-12v-ac.html (sorry, can't get the link to work, so you might have to copy and paste into google) This looks like a screw in replacement for the MR11 h...

Re: My 1st bike

I still have my 1st bike and I still use it. It is a Townsend Montezuma, bought 2nd hand in 1980. It's a bit like triggers broom, only the frame, seatpost and handlebars are the originals. It is now my winter/reserve commuter bike, currently wearing snow stud tyres. It's slow and heavy, but I love i...

Re: Formerly N.I. legislation - now general helmet argument

If it was properly designed into the helmet, there might be less risk of it breaking your skull if you were unfortunate to have a big impact. If you just stick a camera on the outside, you are compromising the strength of the helmet if you hit something (or more likely, if something hits you).

Re: Formerly N.I. legislation - now general helmet argument

I went to A&E a few weeks ago because I fell off riding the bike whilst through the woods in the dark. I gashed my arm quite badly. First thing the doctor asked me was "were you wearing a helmet". I replied "yes, but it was on my head and not my arm". He wasn't impressed. If ...

Re: Single pannier - but which side?

I bought a pair last week, put the left one on my road bike, the right one on my mountain/winter bike, or was it the other way round? I'll have to check now

Re: Horn or not?

I have an ecoblaster on my bike. Sold in boat chandlers. I only use it occasionally. My commute takes me down a quiet country road popular with dog walkers. A quick toot from a few hundred yards away is usually met with a friendly wave. I do cover the horn button when I approach a particularly dange...
