Yeah but it takes forever to get a plank out of your own eye, painful too, what about splinters!

Re: Why wear black?

I always call HiViz "The Autumn Collection", as its so flicking hard to see these type of cyclists against a background of yellow and orange beech leaves, which is a pretty common backdrop in these parts, for a couple of months each year....

Shurely shome mishtake as there will have been a Tory, all of whom are monsters, loony and prone to rave. No really! They are. They do.

Er, well surely they would have voted for him then: Only 46.1% of the 55.7% of the registered US electorate who bothered to vote in 2016,voted for trump.

Thats er 25.7% of the electorate , which of course excludes anyone with any criminal record which is, er, a bit skewed , especially wrt racial bias.

Not most americans at all, that's a fact.

Re: Charging e-bike battery from motor home

I only ever charge our ebike from an inverter. Its a 3KW Outback, and it is run from a 24V battery bank that is charged from solar panels on the roof.

I cant see why any motorhome with panels, a leisure battery and good modern pure sinewave (i think they all are nowadays) 240V inverter would be a bad power source for charging an ebike.

Unless youve got to start the engine to charge the leisure battery. That would just be stupid.

Re: Surly LHT e-bike conversion

I put a Tongsheng bottom bracket conversion on an old Dawes that looks like you wouldnt nick it.

various tongsheng stuff on youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8FFOSwGLzU&t=29s

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kxlWuuut20

lots of other options, put the kettle on and have a look at:

https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/

id go for the tongsheng again, or maybe bafang

I bought a 500w 36v motor from these guys

http://auto-ebike.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&categories_id=&keyword=tongsheng+500&x=0&y=0

about £300, and another 200 for a 13 AH battery from somewhere else.
It turned up, paid with Paypal so some kind of protection i guess, but returning it to chinaland under warranty probably wouldnt happen. No markings to speak of , and a simple fiddle with the control board to make any necessary adjustments. Took about an hour and a half to fit.

My daughter does a very hilly 17 miles a day on it and loves it. She used all of a triple ring before, and doesnt need it now. The last hill back up to ours is a good 1 in 4.

Re: Anyone ever tempted by a cheap bike?

10 years ago i bought a EBC "tourer"
6 months later nearly ebvrything was worn out- stis, wheels had broken a dozen spokes, lights stopped working its all a lot to remember now.

But the main thing was that the forks folded back under me braking down a 1 in 4 in Cornwall, fully loaded. Messy, but not deadly , fortunately. They denied any liability but did give me a refund. After a couple of nice 531s im now on a thorn raven which i do trust.

dont buy a brand new cheap bike.

Re: Simple Question: Is anyone else fed up with having to be PC ?

I for one am really pleased that it is less acceptable nowadays for my youngest daughter to be called a pikey on the school bus than in my elder daughter's day.

Get over it; using offensive language can really hurt some people. It is bullying. If you hadn't realised before that it's offensive, then be thankful that someone has pointed it out to you and that the world can be a better place.
