Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Hi, Thought I'd help you along with some info for your rebuild. You've got yourself the Aerospace Sport model. It came in two colors, blue or red, with the Shimano Tourney GS and a full chrome fork. Also has the sealed bearings bottom bracket and sealed wheel bearing as you described. No problem sourcing decals. Just check ebay. They've got what you need listed under Viscount Aerospace. Sounds very original. Always nice if the paint is in good shape to keep it as is. We've migrated a lot of the current action and info over to www.viscountandlambert.boards.net. You'll find tons of great info and pics here as well. If you get it together by early summer, you won't want to miss the annual Death Fork gathering of the faithful thats be planned at the new site. Post some pics!

Cheers,
Michael

Sooper8 wrote:Just another plea for anyone with an old Lambert or Viscount in the shed gathering dust, (and that they may be thinking of scraping or selling for parts) There is quite a community of Lambert and Viscount lovers here who could either bring it back to life or definitely use the hard to find parts if you offer it up for sale.
Many thanks

I'll second that notion for anyone in the states, especially NY Metro and Vermont (for vtchuck). I've already adopted an unwanted small aerospace frame that will become something again.

63inchgear wrote:I have one of these wonderful frames, the fillet brazing is superb. I had mine powder coated a nice dark green and fitted carbon fork and set it up as a fixie, the lightest fixie I have had. Found a bottom bracket that tightened from both sides to replace the damaged one made with sealed bearings. I had to file out the tubes that shot into the bottom bracket to accommodate it. I have new sealed bearings but need to find someone to engineer the titanium axle I have that can be made to fit, ie cut the grooves in for the spring retainers. The bike is a joy to ride. Hope this interests someone!

Sounds like my aerospace frame which I powder coated kiwi green. I used a Wolber 4130 cro-moly fork and yes it rides like a dream. Used the velo-orange grand cru threadless BB. Works great and super smooth. Please post some pics of your build. Here's mine.

Those who live in colder areas/countries: hope you'll get some sunshine soon. Bendo: it'll cool down at some point. ;)

I'm out to enjoy the wonderful weather on the red flash. Pictures later.

WOW, 60 degrees+ in London today. Great day for you guys! We're back in the freezer again, although yesterday we made it into the 50's….a great day for riding….outside, NO WIND TRAINER!!!

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Anyone interested in a Viscount bicycle jersey that Mrs t and I came up with and is so beautifully modeled by Stella, here's the links. They do run on the small side so order up a size if you like a looser fit. We've got no financial interest in this. I just wanted to be able to enjoy wearing a jersey with a nice big Viscount logo on it. If anyone orders, be patient. I think it took about 5-6 weeks to receive. You've got the red that Stella is wearing and a blue with the winged bike rider Viscount logo. Enjoy!

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Hey Stella, that shot really makes my day. The jersey looks great on you and the black Cons round it out well. Real Viscount spirit :D
We're STILL below freezing in NY. Maybe Bendo can send some heat our way so I can finally wear mine outside too. 8)

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Lewisg wrote:Had my first ride with the old Viscount saddle on the Pro today. It's super comfortable and feels like it could aid my so far failed attempts at no-handed riding (my balance is pretty poor). But unfortunately I think it looks a bit too scruffy against my attempts at making the Pro shine.

I'll give it a few more rides to see how it settles in and perhaps use some leather stain to improve the appearance of the cracks. If I still don't like the look (I'm not even that convinced by my San Marco) I may try it on the Sport or even stick it on the kids Sprint for fun. (Sorry Stephen - I did try. And do love it anyway)!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who can't ride no hands. I'm also balance challenged and as per my doc, it's part of the joys of aging. One thing that I've found that helps immensely, is changing to a wider handlebar with a shallow bend. When I try to ride the old stock Viscount handlebars, it's not pretty. I switched to 44cm shallow drop bars on my Pro and single speed conversion and it's really amazingly more rideable for balance challenged individuals. It's not for the purists amongst us but when I think Viscount, I think aerospace frame and beautiful port-hole crankset and don't think about the bars. The more rideable the bike, the more I ride. 8)

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Just joined the Viscount Strava group. Another great way to stay connected. We've got about 2 feet of snow on the ground and sub freezing temps so it's gonna be wind trainer rides on the Gran Touring and Vitus for the time being. Enjoy your great weather over there 8)

As much as I love Viscount, it is only the 2nd best UK export. Today, we're celebrating the 50th anniversary of the best UK export, THE BEATLES!! and their appearance for the 1st time on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Thank You Very Much :D :D

Re: Viscount bicycles!!

Although I love Ewan, I'd rather have Joseph Gorden-Lewitt; he's proven to be a good cyclist and fits the role to a T. Make sure the fees are high enough so we can send Triitout (or anyone who wants to) over to find that secret place where the NOS Viscounts and Lamberts live.

Ha, you should know I spend all my waking hours and work all my spy connections, (James Bond included) working on this epic case
