Re: Carbon fork / alloy crown corrosion

Cheers for the replies! Not entirely sure how to proceed now. I could touch the fork up with some rattle can primer, black paint then lacquer. However I'd always have it at the back of my mind that the fork isn't exactly new :-/ I could buy a new fork for the Lemonde Etape, that'd mean new headset. ...

Carbon fork / alloy crown corrosion

Giving my 2005 Lemond Etape a check over for the summer I noticed that there was loose paint around the front brake mounting bolt. I removed the fork & front brake from the bike so I could check on corrosion. Taking some sand paper to the loose paint, I ended up with this: http://farm8.staticfli...

Re: Dawes Horizon

I have a 2008 Dawes Horizon. It has a Reynolds 520 steel frame, it is relatively heavy (13.8kg spec weight), and not fast compared to my Lemond racing bike, but it is comfortable especially once fitted with a Brooks B17 saddle. Of course the riding around on a heavy bike is good training! The only u...

Re: SweetskinZ Coloured/Reflective Tyres

What worries me is that site doesn't list tyre weight, recommended inflation pressure, whether the tyres have puncture resistant kevlar linings etc. Or even what rubber compound they use? Long lasting or grippy and suitable for wet? They'd probably be fine for a kids bike for pose factor, but if I w...

Re: Which fast, comfortable but tough 32c tyre?

I had Panaracer Paselas 700x32 on my touring / commuting bike. However they started to suffer from crack sidewalls so I have replaced them with Continental City Contacts 700x32. A bit heavier tyre (550 grams compared to 380 of the pasela), but to me they seem a bit comfyier as they run at ~70psi com...

Re: Carry Freedom - losing wheels!

I'll be looking forward to CF's reply. I had been considering a trailer for a bit of touring next summer.

Re: Ayup UK no more!

I could use a dyno hub + lamp, except I need a light system which can transfer between two bikes, my commuter, and my racer.

Re: Ayup UK no more!

knackeredcycle, sorry to hear you didn't get a good response. It's a shame as the Ayup system is quite well designed. I believe that NightRider is an American manufacturer - would all possible spares be easily available in the UK?

Re: Ayup UK no more!

No reply from my second attempt. Third and final mail sent to the query mail address. Given that a replacement lamp may cost me upwards of £90 inclusive of tax and duty I'm thinking that I (and other buyers) may be better off investing in a UK Hope system. I've been looking on Wiggle at those along...

As an update, I bought the newer style Ortlieb bracket, the one with the single wire.
The bar bag fits securely!

Replacement bar bracket for Ortlieb bar bag?

I'm thinking of doing a short 2 - 3 day tour this summer and I'm looking to get my kit organised. Hoping to do a few days B&B tour, so I'd have plenty of room in a large saddlebag (carradice camper longflap) and bar bag I have an old Ortlieb bar bag, about 4 - 5 years old, which uses the "w...

Re: Schwalbe Marathon Plus

Incidently as from today I've stopped using my 700x32 Marathon Pluses and gone back to Panaracer Pasela TGs on my tourer / commuter / day ride bike. Nice as the Marathon Pluses are I found that their weight and sluggishness isn't all that enjoyable. Now that summer is here I'd rather run a lighter t...

Ayup UK no more!

I recieved an interesting email today which basically says the UK ayup shop is closing down due to Australian owner not dealing with international dealers, only selling the lights direct from themselves. Not so handy if I need to do a warranty claim, sending the lights half way around the world... S...
