Re: Simple Question: Is anyone else fed up with having to be PC ?

On returning, I find you have added your personal attack on me. Obviously, I cannot begin to answer that since the underlying point about racism is true and I'm not going to come out with some waffle about what a great guy I am. On the other hand, it would be a stretch to imagine that every single ...

These arguments are without foundation.

Re: Has the forum hit rock bottom?

Re hitting rock bottom It's occurred to me that I've seen a version of it being done. Last Summer, we had subsidence problems with the extension at the back of our house. Without going into all the stressful details, the ground on which it is built was analysed and this was done by two men with a d...

That old chestnut again, correlation is not causation  .

But that's just words. I'm talking about common sense.

Re: New study finds there "was no difference in mortality between helmeted and non-helmeted"

It should also be noted that the prevalence of all significant trauma was 26% in the group of patients with helmet and 20% in the group without helmets (p-value=0.048). The overall mortality was 1%. There was no difference in mortality between helmeted and non-helmeted patients. So conclusive proof...

Re: Has the forum hit rock bottom?

Just checked what 'trolling'* means, I am certainly not doing that! But, as a wise person said, 'what you [100%] think of me is none of my business' Trolls used to be little creatures like leprechauns or tylwyth teg, the fairies down the garden, what a shame the word has been hijacked * "at ti...

Re: Has the forum hit rock bottom?

Agreed and why l don't post there anymore. There was a good programme on R4 last night called 'Conspiracy Theories'. I don't see the connection between the B... thread and conspiracy theories. There are disagreements, for sure. That wasn't especially intentional, just that Brexit has really polaris...

Sorry Mick! It was a comment on the UK as a whole rather than you particularly. It seems obvious (to me) that the UK has departed the real world.

Anywhere in the world?

Don't you mean anywhere in the world else except the UK?

I took it to mean the real world.

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Nobody, but *nobody*, I've spoken to from anywhere in the world thinks we're doing the right thing. And this is in danger of becoming a badge of honour for Brexit supporters - the Millwall credo: No one likes us, we don't care . It's also how attention-seeking children react when they realise that ...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

The biggest irony is that in a few months when the UK is deep in the mire, the whole fiasco will act as a deterrent for other countries toying with leaving the EU Brexit may actually be strengthening the remaining EU Isn't that their whole idea behind their negotiation technique? If(?) and when we ...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

It is very difficult to judge the public mood, but there are clues. Opinion polls showing 40%+ support for the Tories, those dreadful vox-pops, cheering in the Question Time audience for the most jingoistic and poorly thought-out drivel. Things I have overheard include wishing for a humanitarian di...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

They want a 'global Britain', but to reduce foreign aid. I have long since given up expecting any of them to make any sense. All they are doing is trying to appease the baying mob. I'm not sure how large this baying mob is. I know there are people whose genuine concerns have been hijacked, and I kn...
