Re: Traffic calming?

This would probably only come into play if the speed of the oncoming car is pretty low, but some cyclists might be tempted to hold their ground and thereby allow the car's paintwork to be damaged as it contacts their offside pedal. Might help a driver to grow up a bit.

Re: Cyclists ignoring traffic lights

Does anybody know why cyclists are oblivious to red traffic lights. They just saunter through with a total disregard for public safety. As a motorist i thought the highway code was for all road users. I didn't realise cyclists were exemp. Unless this is purely a moth-eaten, cliched wind-up, you rea...

Washing machine recommendations <£300 please

Hello, would somebody please recommend me a washing machine? Before anybody tells me to spend more, I got a £200 Samsung 12 years ago and it's been fine.
Requirements:
A quick wash option, ie 15 mins.
Reliability.
Low price.

*it will not have to work very hard.

Re: A ped attempt to make me fall

It's easy to believe that the authorities have no interest in justice. Having been the victim of criminal damage to property, I believe that as the guilty party was caught, he should have been made to pay me (a) to fix the damage and (b) to compensate for the inconvenience. He was ordered to pay but...

Re: Lenient?

It does seem so in the light of his subsequent actions. Can anyone help with the sentencing guidelines that apply here? I do take issue with the previous poster in that the offender wasn't using his car as a weapon. There seems no question of intent so the parallel isn't a helpful one. A reasonable...

Re: Motorist jailed for three years for using her car as a weapon

The car driver could make exactly the same argument. She was just punishing the cyclist for his crime. He deserved punishment, punishment isnt wrong. It was two punishments and as neither party is entitled to hand out punishments it was legally speaking two wrongs. Just as many cyclists may feel th...

Re: Motorist jailed for three years for using her car as a weapon

Hence my earlier contribution to this thread. If the authorities will not provide justice (and they usually will not), then the people surely will. More wing mirrors surely will fly due to bias and apathy from the justice system. Two wrongs don't make a right,or do they? Kicking the wing mirror was...

Re: Motorist jailed for three years for using her car as a weapon

Much more must be done to stop such incidents where someone ruins their life in a moment of madness Agreed, but what? This whole incident was started because some idiot was using a phone at the wheel. There isn't even the tiniest possibility that she didn't know that doing so was wrong, and also il...

Re: And again .....road rage ....

Her attitude does of course stink(as does the cyclists when he kicked out at her wing mirror though that was only property) In view of the driver's actions leading up to the wing mirror incident, the cyclist's attitude is understandable and reasonable. The police and/or courts were never gonna sort...

Re: Cycle rage in Manc investigated by police

the cyclist could simply have ridden away or reported the incident to the police(not that anything would've been done If the provocation was deliberate and threatening - and followed up by a verminous attitiude - then I'd say the cyclist's actions might be seen as understandable, especially as the ...

Re: Rod Liddle, Sunday times terrorist attack on cyclists

I like his writing. It amuses me. Oddly - on the face of it at least - it was some of my Guardian-reading acquaintances that sided with the door-ers. I say oddly, but in my experience an awful lot of Guardian readers fall a long way short of the critical thinking standards they imagine they espouse....
