Charity Cycle Book - Live Cycle

Hi I cycled France for a friend who went blind and the RNIB charity. I kept a blog which is now a book that is also 100% in aid of charity. It's not literature but it is funny. Free preview on Amazon. I'm happy to answer any questions. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1981281983/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_1J...

Re: Caen to Biarritz or Biarritz to Caen

Hey I finished my ride and went north to south. A lot of riding is done through forest so there wasn't a view of the sea to miss. :) I did agree that heading south was better as the heat built up. I had quite a few adventures, kept a daily log and ended up doing the ride for charity. My blog is here...

cinque terre - is the road busy?

Hi Visiting Italy in two weeks and looking at cycling cinque terre on the sp13 road. Does anyone know if this is this a really busy road with buses and cars? Opencycle map shows two routes - the road or a mountain bike track. Anyone done either? My friends prefer quiet country roads and don't mix we...

Re: Caen to Biarritz or Biarritz to Caen

I've decided to go north to south and get the train back from Biarritz. I had considered a flight to Bilbao.

Re: Caen to Biarritz or Biarritz to Caen

Thanks. I never considered the view of the sea thing.

I read that the wind was southerly and it's easier for me to get a flight out and ferry back (bike box).

Caen to Biarritz or Biarritz to Caen

Contemplating doing the west coast of France (EV1 then V43) first three weeks in June but undecided on weather to do North to south or south to north. Whats the opinion on prevailing winds?

Re: bike hire Charleroi Belgium?

thanks

just back. Only bike hire is the brillo point in the station, Charleroi du Sud, that's Monday to Friday and limited availability. Quite a few cycleways but the area is very industrial. If I was going again would probably go to Namur where bike hire can be had.

bike hire Charleroi Belgium?

Hi

Does anyone know of bike hire in or near Charleroi Belgium. Got a cheap Ryanair flight for a weekend and want to spend a day cycling around this industrial town. Not a "sexy" or long tour but every little counts :-)

Re: mobile phones

Samsung s3 on contract should be £20 a month. Virginmedia give £5 a month off. I like Android as all my photos are backed up and the Chrome browser syncs across phone, tablet and PC so something searched for on the phone appears in the browser history of the other two devices. Android is cheaper tha...

Re: knee pain and touring

Since I raised my saddle my knee has been fine. I know have tried that. It seems to me that maybe something simple will cure your problem. I hope so as I was worried about my coast to coast when I had my knee issue. Good luck.

Re: knee pain and touring

On Hadrians wall cycleway now. Lower gears and higher saddle appear to be working. 35 miles before lunch with panniers.

Re: knee pain and touring

Cheers. Another 30 miles today and no problem. Really think the saddle height was the issue. We are all 50 plus to 70 years old.. Doing Hadrian's wall cycleway next week with 50 miles day 1 hence my more regular training. Now looking forward to it as opposed to thinking I might be cancelling.
